Traveling with my buddy over Halloween. Trying to figure out how much cash per day I will need not including transportation to and from airport. Advice please!

Just for tips? You don't HAVE to tip anything but it'd be cooler if you did. I'd say we spread 30.00 or so a day around. Pool bartenders and Patty-O's and a little something for house keeping. Others generosity may vary.

I try to bring a little extra in order to avoid using the ATM. I've seen too many people get screwed using it.

I usually bring about $350 per week plus spending money. We don't usually spend much except for a random (expensive) red bull or a cheesy souviner. I've come home with money every trip.

You technically could get by with bringing no money, but I like to tip, and agree with about $30 per day for tips(this is for a couple). If you are going to be at the resort for the full day, I would figure:

    - 5 at breakfast/lunch
    - 5 for housekeeping (depending on how messy you left the room)
    - 10 at the sexy pool bar (i spend the most time there)
    - 5 at dinner
    - 5 at night time bar

If you are going on the Boobs Cruise, you need the remainder of the cost, and then tip money.

I also end up needing spending money for some red bulls, and booze I buy across the street...some days I need to switch it up and drink jager. Also I have had the need to buy medicine, but it is much better to be prepared with this from home.

We think others comments and amounts are all great, don't forget the driver to and from airport, bell hops, and sometimes the porters at the airport are worth every penny. .
And others if you do any off site excursions. .

What a porter at the airport?

My title was a "porter" once when I was 15 and worked at Dunkin Donuts, that meant I cleaned the toilet, and did bunch of other shitty jobs the counter girls didn't have to do. Didn't think to tip them at the airport, normally I am just trying to get out of there asap.

Yea I looked it up after I asked. I forgot about using that "internet" thing to find out information ;)

Also, found out it a porter is a type of dark beer. I do like to tip those...in my mouth.

We usually bring about $1000 for 10 days. We usually spend $300-400 on tips, then a little extra spending money for souvenirs and a trip out to Isla Mujueres, and cash for the usual Boobs Cruise or 2. We usually end up coming home with extra cash.
