We remember that! Watched them make the drinks using a bottle of Skyy. Took them back & told them that wasn't Skyy Vodka. Bartender opened a new bottle, made our drinks and all was good. Same trip also had Appleton Estates Rum that turned out to be whiskey. They aren't very careful when they refill their brand bottles with the rotgut crap.
Our "go to" drink at TTR is Skyy vodka with Fresca and a splash of OJ. Fairly light and refreshing and can pretty much drink it all day long without feeling like crap in the morning. Never had a problem with the taste of Skyy.
The house vodka and rum taste like lighter fluid to me. Remember to ask for the brand that you want. I usually go the bar vs using the waiters around the pool. Many of them don't have a strong grasp of English, and usually mix up drink orders. The Premier waiters around the pool are pretty good, and usually bring what you ask for. I don't like Smirnoff or Absolute, but I never have had problems with Skyy. Ask for Wyrobba, as it is very good. I have watched the bartenders open hundreds of new bottles, and they all looked sealed to me. I guess there is a chance that they refill the open bottles that they start with in the morning. I probably drink as early as anyone, and have never had a problem with the wrong booze in a bottle.
My best advice on the Paty-O's thing is to check your cups for cracks if you're using their cups. They often aren't in the best repair. If they have cracks, they often taste like soap. If the cup has a crack, I'll always finish breaking it an throw it in the garbage. Do that discreetly. But I don't want to drink out cracked plastic cups and if they are broken and thrown away, then the resort will have to buy new ones. If you just give them back, then the next schmuck is going to be served in it.
This makes a HUGE amount of sense. I remember thinking this too, but didnt put the pieces together (I blame the soap)
great replies everyone and good advice too. At first we thought it was soapy cups but it happened two nights in a row with every drink. Will be asking for Sky for sure.
