Booking direct w/ hotel vs other booking agent

What is the opinion on booking direct vs using a discounter (which seem to be cheaper) - Anyone ever find that you get a better room, treated better at checkin or more importantly - not turned away . I have heard that sometimes people were turned away because "they couldn't find the reservation

Who has the best rates? I have heard Alpha rooms but when I tried to put in specific dates they increased it to 7 days so I suspect they have bought rooms for specific weeks.

This will be our 3rd trip but booked direct last 2 times

 

Depends where you are from.

From canada I used redtag.ca But then I choose to go on referral ( save 400 $ each last year )

but if I could find a deal that will beat the referral then I'll book.

Never never and never I'll book to the hotel directly.
Yes it's a bit more expensive from a website such as expedia, but you have the air fare with that.

check for deal ( hotel and flight ) how much it will cosT ( + your own way to the resort )
And then check on website for deals and compare.

Sometime it's better to go with an AI than booking seperatly.

If you're booking from a travel website or travel agent, make sure to bring all the paper that prouve you pay for this trip! always bring mine never get any problem !! (3 different resort, 4 trip in cancun itself in the past 3 years ) .
( and I travel alot )

We have always used Expedia. The prices are always cheaper than other websites. We have never been turned away or treated differently. We booked with southwest vacations this time as Expedia was more.
