As others have said - it certainly is one of the worst beaches in all of Cancun but it is still fantastic. Sea grass gets a little weird if you go our past your waist. The sand is fine, the water - well its fine, just not the most beautiful to look at. We make the most of it, and go for daily late afternoon swims to the far buoys and will take the double kayak out and explore the hotel zone much further up the beach and try and find the elusive sand bars.
We thought the beach was pretty nice. There's some seaweed but they clear it out in the mornings. Here's a pic we took with our phone.
