On my first trip I didn't participate in the theme nights as I honestly did not know what to expect. On trip #2 I participated on the established theme nights and had a great time. I even had my hubby dressed up a couple of nights. Trip #3 - game on....100% participation anticipated.
On one trip we planned to dress up for a few of the nights. We were at the Cabo resort and could see the bar that everyone was meeting up at. Once we started seeing the outifts we would scramble to find something to fit in. So planned on doing two or three nights, and ended up doing every night! It's fun to join the party instead of being on the outside looking in. This trip and our last one we plan an outfit for every night. My wife does an awesome job finding outfits for both of us.
Men's Dress Shirt night is the best! Very sexy, and even the guys can participate in it. Think "Risky Business".
Well, you have to look at it this way, if everyone thought that way then nobody would dress up. You just have to dress up, show up and have a good time. People will dress up and the more that do, the more that get inspired to join in. So be leaders, not followers.
Besides participating on this site, a good way to make sure you're not the only one is to tell everyone you meet at the sexy pool that you're going to be participating. Each person you convince to join in convinces someone else...and voila! I also like arranging to meet up somewhere so we can all enter PatyO's together. That way I don't have to worry I'll be the only one down there dressed up. I've collected enough theme stuff that this trip I'll be bringing extra, so if we find anyone who wants to join in, I can help them out. I've always thought Temptation should put theme wear in the gift shop--a lot of people don't know about the themes until they see people dressed up, then they'd like to join in but can't.
I tallied up and over three trips, I've participated in around 25 theme nights (resort and CCC). Everything from animal, sports, leather/lace, mardi gras, school night, S&M, lingerie, white, red dress, uniform, glow, mask and Christmas to name a few! Some get a very good turn out and others not so much. I've come to the opinion that theme nights that get a good turn out are the ones that are easy to do - those you can put a lot of effort in or hardly any (a few accessories) and still be in theme, i.e. those that can be dressed up / down / sexy / comical and work for both the guys and the girls. Themes that preclude anyone that doesn't want to go all out or dress sexy are more prone to poor turnout. Not everyone is comfortable wearing a skimpy schoolgirl outfit or similar, so they naturally get a poorer turnout as there's only a few willing to do it. Themes where both men/women can dress up are good and I think they get better turn outs. That being said, it all depends on numbers during your stay. If you arrange any of your own themes (not resort themes) then just try to get numbers up before you go, then arrange a meet up time that everyone can meet up in theme before hitting the bar (e.g. arrange to meet all those going to wear theme at 9pm in the sport's bar). I think a lot of people bring theme wear, then head down to Paty O and see nobody else in theme, so they decide to not bother....there's probably loads of people all sitting there with theme costumes still in the case because they think nobody else is dressing up!
Participation definitely depends on how many CCC folks are there. We run into folks all the time asking about a particular theme the group is doing on a particular night so we always bring extra CCC bracelets and hand them out. The more people that get involved in the CCC community, the better the trips end up being.
No, not always being party poopers just we sometimes have stuff going on besides TTR. so we try and show up in costume but if we happen to be running late on a tour etc screw it what you see is what you get.
