Well I am wrong then. But I have to admit we have limited interest in the pool games, our last 4 or 5 trips. And don't like being accused by MC, on microphne, that I should go to Holiday Inn and read a book. Or that I paid for these games with my hard earned vacation dollars and they are working hard to bore me for my money. So yes we are glad to read of stated, preliminary, intentions to switch up entertainment.
Change is always good. I think with the entire Ents staff being different from 3-6 months ago this is kind of inevitable. I can't see what they might change though. The beer drinking competition (country vs country) has been around for at least 10 yrs, maybe under different names but the concept is the same. Also the Mr and Miss Temptation contest hasn't changed much in 10 yrs either. Have to admit the daytime games hold little interest for me, the evening events even less compared to years ago. Really don't like the current Nice Shoes bar, and only ever venture there if it's raining, and even then we usually decide to go back to a rain soaked Paty O's. Hopefully the new things they have planned will be more appealing. If not, it wont spoil my trips there.
I have to admit I don't pay much attention to the games. Too much screaming. We always book 14 days (can either book 7 or 14 and a week isn't enough!), and around day 5 my tolerance for "shout now if you're from USA / England / Wales / Canada / Russia" etc. is already wearing thin. Not that others shouldn't enjoy this sort of thing, it's just not for me, even more so if we've been up at Paty O's until 5am the evening before! I've developed a routine now getting up around 11am, and hanging out at the quiet pool or the lounge chairs by the sports pool until 2 / 3pm so I always miss the first round of games. As much as I love the party at TTR, I like to chill out too and quiet pool is excellent for that kind of party. I agree that Nice Shoes doesn't impress me either. Too damp in there and way too hot! The evening entertainment is fun and appropriate for the resort, but I can't tolerate the space. It's in serious need of a make-over. It has huge potential to be an excellent indoor venue if they invested in it a bit. New air con is a must, tiled or wooden flooring instead of the carpet, and comfortable lounge chairs / couches instead of the bar stools. Also get rid of the platform stage / dance area and just fit a normal dance floor. The platform they currently have is seriously slippy and looks odd as if it's too big for the room. Also, expand the bar a bit. Nice Shoes could easily take over Paty O as the main evening entertainment area. It's certainly big enough and not affected by the occasional downpours that happen in Cancun. Knock through to the Sport's Bar, make it one big room, with Sport's Bar space being more of a sit down out of the way area. Leave a TV and the pool table in there for daytime. One idea I've been thinking about, not something to do with entertainment but just in general, with all the day trips etc. leaving hotel on a daily basis, wouldn't it be a good idea if they made arrangements with one of the travel agents to put on a daily mini bus that drives to Walmart once a day, waits an hour then drives back to the resort? I'd certainly pay for that. I know the bus is only $1 and drops off close to Walmart, but I'm lazy and hate the hassle of people trying to catch my attention to buy things / day trips etc., even during that 5 minute walk from the bus stop to Walmart. I'd pay a fare if I knew I could just get a ride from outside the resort, right into the parking lot at Walmart, then back again without the stress, without having to book a taxi.
In our 5 days, we only caught the games a full day our last day and saw one game on the first day. So for one day, they are entertaining
We Also found the pool entertainment a bit tedious after a couple of days. Perhaps it was due to the 3 staff all being new and each from a different country. they just haven't had the time to gel and bounce off each other.(personally I think there should be at least 6 or 7 entertainers and each need a bit more time off) I know all the hotel staff have to work hard and all work six days a week but they only do 8 hours a day. Its just to much for them to cope with. Jules does a fine job of holding the team together & JJ tries really hard, not really sure what Roxy's roll is, I don't think TTR entertainment is suited to her, although she is always friendly and smiling (and very easy on the eye). A few more staff would give them more rest and time to bond and put together some new material. Also I think live music 2 0r 3 times a week would go down well in patio's . (These are my own personal views after spending our first 2 weeks there last month) :icon_razz: Leeroy xx
Yeah I pretty much ignore the pool games also unless everyone else in the crowd we are with is paying attention. Same with nighttime.. usually from dinner straight to Paty-O's after a wardrobe change for C. Hate the "sweet dreams pool party".. it ruins the Paty-O's vibe. -J
I think you have a point there. The entertainment staff acts like they are burned out half of the time. More personalities and some rest for the staff would likely liven it up a bit. As for all of the screaming, that's great for college kids on spring break but it gets to be kind of annoying.
