We booked our flights with Southwest for Halloween this past Monday. Roundtrip, direct flights and no baggage fees for $376.00 per person.
I just did a quick comparison between USAir and SW for September from Buffalo to Cancun. USAir was $80 more per person. For me I'll spend the $80 to avoid SW's cattle call. I know I can spend the $25 per person to avoid the cattle call, but then SW is more expensive than USAir. Also with USAir you had several flight options for times in both directions. SW only had one flight option in each direction.
1. We don't mind the cattle call. They're not going to take off until everyone is on the plane. 2. The last time we flew to Cancun, SW was not even an option, so we flew Spirit. It was cheaper UNTIL they added the fees. $10 to print a boarding pass. $20 per carry on bag. etc. We ended up spending $200+ on fees, over and above the tickets. 3. We're looking forward to trying the SW experience to Cancun next time.
Same thing happened to me last time I flew spirit-with added fees-for "everything" was more expensive than other flts-which had various leave and return options-where spirit had only one
They've got some nice fares on offer all the way to January 4, for NYC to Cancun (just over $400 USD), with more routes and offers to come. I'll be looking at Cancun to Ft Meyers in late March, which will be one of the new routes. International Travel - Southwest Airlines ________________________
We booked our upcoming vacation via AirTran (Southwest) and saved about $375 from the price it would have been with another carrier. We are hoping it goes smoothly. We connect in Chicago.
Problem with us and SW is they do not fly out of Memphis with their package tours... we used US airways from Memphis to Charlotte to Cancun ...with flight and hotel package. We used to fly Northwest from Memphis to Cancun direct years ago plus used their hotel & flight packages... that was the good old days..but delta screwed that up for Memphis travelers...
