You nevr know. Sports are a funny thing. What looks like a sure thing doesn't always happen. Especially with MTL. The Habs have a history in the playoffs, of finding goalies in the minors way down the depth chart. I.e. steve penny, ken dryden, patrick roy etc
Y do I get the feeling this is typical Montreal head games to give the players something to rally around and make themselves the under dog. Only to have the tragic hero return in a dramatic fashion. Seems the actual injury is clouded in secrecy. A generic "knee injury gone for the series" I smell a rat
Why Marshe, I'm surprised. You would doubt the veracity of the Montreal hockey team???? Actually losing two games in Montreal won't be a good thing for them. They will have a hard time rallying in the Garden I would think, but then again, hockey is a funny sport and we've all seen weirder things happen.
Ya I think the ancient ol "let's create a crisis to rally around" page torn from the Habs history book might've backed fired. Did you see Price in a suit, smiling with his knee brace on? Looked like I was watching WWE Raw. Expected him to grab a mic, rip off his brace and bellow "I m PLAYinnnnnnggg" And then turn out the lights, play Undertakers ring music, do a Hulkster 'elephant ear' impression and cue the crowd. Habs are in trouble in the Big Apple. Hank is locked in. Hey u must be happy Miller is on the move again. .proving most of us right. . .at least u got something for him, cuz he was goin to walk from Buffalo.
Actually I would have rather seen Miller sign with St. Louis. That would have given us another #1 draft choice. I do wish Ryan all the best. He held his own here with a really lousy team in front of him. He has been the proverbial good soldier through it all and I wish him the very best. Too bad he couldn't have taken the Blues to the Cup, but too many injuries and goalies are up and down creatures. Sadly he was not at his sharpest for the Blues and now it will cost him millions. My guess is that he will end up out West to be close to his wife.
Have to admit I have never been a big fan of his. Seems very over rated. I would place him at best 10th in the NHL right now. I think St Lou dearly overpaid for a guy who has nevr been in high pressure play-off runs. Always put me in mind of Barrasso, in terms of hype.
Kind of ironic that you would draw the Barrasso comparison as he was also a Buffalo draft choice. Miller certainly had the pressure situations in the Olympics and at various times in his years here in Buffalo. Goalies are a funny breed. I've seen the best of them give up some incredibly weak goals and then play out of their gourd immediately after that. I guess as the father of a goalie I'm used to seeing them be up and down. As my son likes to say to me, "If a forward screws up you may not notice, but if a goalie screws up red lights go on, sirens go off and 18,000 people scream." It takes a different level of mentality to play that position.
