I'll be the unpopular one and agree with this. And even more thoughts. I followed the forum during the GOV transition and some of the expectations of the TTR customers. I understand many are just throwing in their 2 cents but there were so many it seemed like a million dollars. Made me realize how demanding some of the customer base can be.

My bottom line is I WANT temptations to make money and totally expect their prices to go up every year. Can competition be good? Yes and no. I've been involved in competitive business's that the customer did really good the first year. The second year everyone closes down. They have to make money to keep up and be worth their investment. EVERYTHING goes up. You can't have great service, great food and great facilities at low prices. That is a receipe for a business that is going to close. Some could argue that those things aren't great at TTR. Well try traveling other places in Cancun at these prices and TTR is above average. Everyone seems concerned about 2 people staying in an all-inclusive hotel on a beach for 2-3 hundred a night but try staying in a small hotel room in any major downtown city USA for more than that and still pay $40 a person per meal.

    I'm done. :icon_frown:

    Just my 2 cents.

Yes, and the top shelf beer would be Pabst Blue Ribbon. I'm from the South, so would really, really prefer microwaved Bolonga (balongie) rather than the hot dogs.

OMG! I was trying not to be too harsh but you both know the reality. I can confirm it is only Harry Lange now he has bought John out. Comm'on name one of the restaurant after you: Harry San. Average age when I was there 65! When I heard most of them had been there between 42 up to 51 times...it gives you a clue.
Unless the hotel organise an event at the disco, there were 0 people at all.
1 night thre was a beach party: 25 pax, 1 group private party at the main pool, another group had the piano bar (was a Thursday when it is supposed to be closed), etc.. no atmosphere whatsoever cos too little groups.
Harry now organise "clandestine" party at the back of spa with mattresses on the floor. 1 couple waited 2 hours but no one else of their group turned up, lol.
The room are some and without a terrace or balcony I felt I was in jail. 1 evening I had no hot water which I heard is a regualr problem. The day I arrived they had no electricty from 9am til 5pm. obviously the ancient were not bothered cos in bed at 9pm up at 6am, lol. Accomodation is at best 2 and 1/2 stars. Why do people agree to pay 4*? I found the resort very mild. Viva TTR!!! especially with USA transfer, within 20 minutes from the airport no time wasted!

Frenchie: your aren't much off on the ages at Hedo II (Hedo III was a bit younger). What is really surprising is that is NO hospital at ALL in Negril. There is a very small one at Savannah La Mar. BUT...... These are not "Spring Chickens". No sidewalks either, but that doesn't endanger your life, unless one of those cab drivers runs you over.

GoGo: Would agree about the "surprise". Best way to check out Hedo, without losing your wife, is to stay at either Sandals Negril or Grand Lido Negril , then walk over to Hedo and buy a day pass ($150, I think). Better to waste $150 and a couple of hours than have your wife curse you for 4-5 days !!! LOL !!!Couples Negril and Riu Palace Tropical Bay would do just fine also.

And Hedo is much more $$$$ than TTR. I really doubt the new owners realized how much $$$$$ was involved in fixing the place. And then there is that whole "Soon Come, Mon" Jamaica thing !!!

We went to GOV last month. It was nowhere near competition for TTR. Totally different environments. GOV is a laid back, fairly boring resort with a pretty beach thats topless optional....TTR is a hi energy, party, damn near nekkid resort with a so-so beach. We prefer the latter.

Really too bad there cant be at least one other similar resort for competition. Based on nearly full occupancy year round, we can all expect to pay more to stay at TTR in the future.

WE do have a $$ limit though. Common sense will prevail sooner than later.
