Can someone tell me what the WiFi situation is at TTR? How much does it cost? How long do you get? Are there data usage limits? Is the coverage good? Is the connection solid? What kind if speeds do you get? I know it's a lot of questions but I'm trying to decide if I should buy Verizon's data package or not. I's $25 for 100kb. And I don't know if it's a 1x, 3G or 4G LTE connection. That is pretty steep.
Ok, not sure if you have time for this but Rome, my sexy tech geek hubby, said for data, if you are not a member getting "free" WiFi, it's best to buy the Mexico SIM card for your phone. Only problem with THAT is that you can't test it until you are actually there so you would want to buy the SIM from somewhere you feel you can trust. I know people have posted on here about doing that and you are coming from CA I would think there would be places. We did get the WiFi for a couple of days (once we finally remembered to go get the code from the Premier office) and it was ok. Not sure if its any different from the WiFi you buy or not. It wasn't exceptionally fast and it would log me out a lot so I'd have to have the code with me to log back in. I didn't really try to use it in many places so not sure how great coverage. I don't think it worked well at the gym - I seem to remember trying to use it up there but by those last two days, I was either sleep deprived, still had alcohol in my system, or hung over. HOLY CRAP! Side bar - I just realized you are in Shasta Lake. One of my best friends used to live there! Now they have a house in Weed. For a while they were commuting from Shasta to Weed - working for Forest service. Anyway!! That's a fairly small area so I got pretty excited! lol
It's ok, better when it's free though. If you have a spare GSM phone, not your verizon one. that happened to already be carrier unlocked and is good for wifi tethering then that is the ideal. It's pretty cheap and works well, you can buy the sim's on ebay or from a few places pre-activated so you just add the credits on and send a txt to turn on the data when you are there. But since you'll be there in 2 days you're outta luck. The wifi will be way cheaper than what verizon wants to rape you for. It is tied to a single device which is kinda annoying but works decently well. There are a few places where it's less than awesome or doesn't work, but they have most of the place covered.
Yes, Shasta Lake is small but it's part of the Redding metro area and that population is 177,000. Weed is very small and about 70 miles north. Small world though!
We go down to the small bar down the beach they have free wifi when I need to use it . Also they have nice cold beer in bottles not cups:beer4::beer4:
I've heard a lot about this bar, do you walk out into the beach and turn left( past Asian restaurant I believe ) or right ( past volleyball nets) want to give it a try this year! thanks x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
