As stated in a previous thread...it's me and my Wife's 1st Anniversary during our trip and wanna take her for a really nice romantic meal in the evening... I'm struggling to choose between the 'Romantic Dinner for 2' on the beach at TTR, as i've read some mixed reviews.. or going out into Cancun somehwere for food. My only concern about that is where to go, that serves great food and secondly getting there and back as again, where taxis are concerned i've heard about people getting ripped off etc. Any help would be appreciated, my Wife doesnt like Seafood, however i love it so any suggestions on the above topics would be a great thing!
we went to a Mexican food restaurant while there. not for sure what its called. its not romantic but its authentic Mexican food that's really good! I think it was la pascualias? I know that's not how you spell it but its something like that. the taxi driver recommended it to us. and while there there were plenty of taxis waiting. but we walked back. it was fun we didn't have anywhere else to be (got a little confusing at times) but it was well worth it. As for taxis ripping you off...they do! we had one bring us to the flea market and he asked if we wanted him to come back to get us. we said sure great! arranged for him to come back in 2 hours...needless to say he sat and waited for us! So our bill was crazy expensive! Not only that but he dropped us off at "his friends" jewelry shop. (I did find a AMAZING necklace) and we talked him WAY down on price he originally wanted $800 we got it for $200. he said it was twisted platinum and white gold. Which I didn't really believe him...but sure enough when I got home I had it appraised and that's exactly what it was! and its worth well more than what we paid! Hope you find some place great!
La Habichuela in Cancun Central would definitely be a good choice for a Romantic Dinner for 2. A Cancun Legend Since 1977 | La Habichuela Restaurants, Cancun, Mexico Have Alfredo or someone from the bell staff set you up. It is a $15 (or less) cab ride each way. I would not be concerned about safety going there.
Was it la parrilla down town ? We have been there twice really nice but not romantic . Go on trip adviser there is a list of all the restaurant on there . There are some really nice ones that go on to the lagoon . Taxis from the hotel are set fairs ask the bell boy on the door for the prices or get the bus more fun!!!!
Ruth Chris Cancun. Little pricey but wow worth every penny. As far as cabs go just ask two different drivers then you can compare prices.
walk two blocks to el embarcadero, catch the ferry over to Isla Mujeres, go eat Dinner at Olivia's and your wife will be very happy...Amazing food, Amazing atmosphere and the service is top notch..we discoved it on our last trip and will include it on all our future trips
I was wrong...it was this restaurant ^! haha must've had too many margaritas! :ernaehrung005: after looking at Bart/Annette's link to the other restaurant I have no doubt it was that restaurant!
As far as taxi's go just make sure to arrange a price before you get into the taxi. That way everyone is agreed on the fare. Otherwise they will try to up the charge to something insane after you get to the restaurant.
Thanks for all the responses guys. I'll have a look at all of the reccomendations made here The meal will just be for starters of the surprises she's gonna get that night don't you worry! Haha! x
Congrats, when is your anniversary? Our is June 3 rd. celebrating 14 years! If you don't want to leave the resort, the Italian restaurant is quiet and is a great meal. We did the beach BBQ and it was a great meal, although I found the smoke a little to much.
