hi , last year in September we was only allowed to bring in 200 cigarettes each( from the uk) can anyone tell me if this has gone back upto 400? I like to get as many as possible on flight as can get 400 for £38 thanks x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The rules for cigarettes changed last October, and as per my recent experience with Cancun customs Friday May 2nd, the official number is 10 packages - apparently they don't care if the package is 20 or 25 cigs/pkg they will just charge you duty 500% on anything over 10 pkgs :icon_cry:
True enough... we got dinged 120.00 us dollars for bringing in 4 cartons and they would let us leave them... and we were staying 3 weeks.. amount of time doesn't make any difference, so they ended up being very expensive Canadian smokes. Friends of ours from the UK got dinged over 200.00.. We love our Canadian smokes.. next time non smoking friends said they would bring some down for us... Thank you .
ahhh I see but they are cheaper in mexico. so you can buy twice the amount, to smoke the place up!! :biggrinbandit:
Got caught with 800 cigarettes. Yes they did ask for 500% so told them they could keep them so the fine shoot down to $45... But wasted 45mn of my time negotiating and paying. obviously the money went in the back pocket of that custom officer ;-)
