The smoke at Patio,s is bad most of the time. It may not have a full roof , but it is pretty much totally inclosed on the sides. If there is a good wind going things get cleared out. To aggravate the problem , the grille exhaust is on the wrong side and the wind just pushing all the hamburger smoke back in ,, add that to the smokers who chain smoke cause their drinking, and on some nights I found myself moving around a lot. Above observations based on my very low tolerance to smoke, and zero tolerance last week with chest cold issues . Again ,, they need fans , I,m not the first to comment that , I,m just repeating it. Even the most polite smokers quickly forget when there drinking. When its busy there is no getting away from it. People dancing with a cigarette and burnings other people also happen They should re-open the Cigar lounge and make it the smoking area. 2 years ago they removed all the ashtrays from the pool and had the large ashtrays around the perimeter to encourage smokers to go there to smoke, , end result ,, they had to buy new drinking cups for the pool , cause smokers were using them for ashtrays. So the small ashtrays were back last week. People were actually smoking in the pool and Jacuzzi's. I know this before going so I try not to make an issue of it. At home, you don't want to know what I do to smokers who invade my air
I am allergic to cigarette smoke really bad. To the point where my nose closes up, my eyes tear constantly, and my throat is sore for several days. I have strip down and throw all my clothes in the utility room so they are washed ASAP. Second hand smoke is a carcinogen and is just as harmful to others. If the smoke is so bad I will just end the conversation and move from the area. I appreciate when the smokers are considerate of the non-smokers and smoke else where.
Compared to Hedo and other Jamaican resorts , there is almost NO smoking at all at TTR!!! Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you guys were talking about tobacco!!! My mistake !!!
Cigarette smoke is an irritant, not an allergen, so technically nobody is allergic to it. I have always hated cigarette smoke, but now that is is banned pretty much everywhere in the USA, it seems even worse when you are exposed to it. Remember the good old days of sitting 3 feet away from a table that was in the "smoking section"?
There we go! That would explain a lot, as to why sometimes I can be around it without too much trouble and other times, practically die! Must have to do with what other allergens are in the air. And in NC like 6 years ago, we were at a Perkins (before they adopted the ban) with a plexiglass window separating the smoking section and it was awful! lol
Sensitive subject... Being two of those evil smokers we try our best to be considerate and mindful of non smokers as we agree it is a disgusting smelly and unhealthy habit. We very often get up to smoke away from as many people as we can but to be honest at the end of the day you simply can't please everyone all the time. I've been bitched at when I was 15' away from anyone while standing by a 2' high ashtray. In all fairness, for someone to expect smokers that are in a designated smoking area to move all the time to another area to indulge (and hopefully not piss off someone else) is not exactly fair either. As I said we do try and have moved (changed chairs) because we noticed a person beside us was obviously getting green from our smoke (they didn't complain btw)...I believe it is a two way street; it can't be 100% one sided and if we make an effort so can those non smokers who are in that same designated smoking area. Not trying to cause a shit storm here but both smokers and non smokers have paid for their vacation and have to coexist in a smoking environment. A little communication and respect (for both sides) goes a long way. IMHO Scott
Very well said! I have not had a real Cigarette since last June but I do smoke the e-cigs and am still considerate of others. Most smokers are very considerate. We get that at work alot that non-smokers will walk by/through the Designated Outdoor Smoking Area and cough and make comments. It is a 2-way street for both sides. :cool014: Debbie
I smoked briefly in college - until I realized that it was keeping me from getting better when I would get sick so I quite, except when I would drink. Then I realized it made me a lot more hung over (that took a few years), so then I stopped doing that, too. But I will even still hang out with smoking co-workers sometimes. And when I drink, I sometimes want one - but then I remember how crappy I'll feel the next day! There was a point to that! I think it's kind of silly for people to cough and such walking past a smoking area. I don't think it's healthy for people and wish it was easy for everyone to quit so that everyone could be healthy and spend their money on more fun stuff but I also wish rainbows shot out of my kids' butts with pots of gold at the end, so...
