We just returned home yesterday. We checked in on April 8th. Very quick check in, bellman brought bags within 10 minutes and within that amount of time, we realized we were not happy with our room. We called the front desk and ask to see an upgrade. The bellman took us to another room (king bed, balcony, refurburbished, double vanity, marble tub w shower). My husband went back to the front desk and paid for the upgrade. We never made any contact on this site with Valentina, nor did we meet or see her at the resort in our 9 day stay. In our experience, if there is an upgrade available, you just have to ask for it. Or ask to see a different room if not satisfied with the one you originally paid for and were given at check in.

we upgraded to the sian ka'an room, which has a huge patio with 4 person Jacuzzi and a sunbed looking out to the ocean - we paid an extra $76 US/night.........we loved our room and thought it was money well spent.
...having a no clothes rule for your hot tub is the best, this will make room for others to join! lol
