December 2014 Roll Call

Hi there, myself (26) and husband (29) are looking to book this hotel for our 1 year anniversary (got married in Jamaica Dec 2013). We were looking to book at Oasis Grand Cancun as we heard the nightlife was awesome and we wanted 1 last hurrah before we had kids (we've been together 10 years) but as we were reading some reviews we were noticing some people were comparing it to Temptations Cancun. We have never been to a hotel even remotely like this one, were a little apprehensive, but are very laid back people who like to party when on vacation, and love the "lifestyle" resort feel that we've been getting from this hotel. Anyone else planning to travel in December? Hoping to make our decision this week or next. Thanks!

 

Great group of us going down again in early December just have not figured out wether it will be TTR or gov yet but likely TTR!

 

We went last year right before Xmas, this year we're going end of Nov - Dec. We love it, and have decided it will be a yearly thing. As long as you have an open mind, you'll have a blast. There's the "Sexy" party pool, where you will see boobies & most likely some cursing & mild to moderate obscenities (between friends, rarely imposing on the unwilling). You may get the occasional drunk idiot, but people are usually quick to shoo them away (as is security if they really become an issue). And the nice part is if you decide the sexy pool is too much for you, there's always the quiet pool or the beach. If you want to hang out with a bunch of people that feel like old friends, you'll love it. Go, be friendly, you'll have the time of your life!

 

We plan on being there the first or second week of Dec. We were there in Dec of 2013 and had a blast. Book it, you won't regret it.

 

Hey stranger!! Wow, I'm surprised there's already a December rollcall but hey! Tim and I want to tentatively throw our hat in this ring. We are looking at approximate dates of the 3rd through the 10th, same goes with Jer/Mel because she graduates! We were on the fence about GOV but the way the party is going looks like we might be back at TTR. No complaints though!

 

Oh ha ha! I just noticed that this is not an official roll call, and I missed Jer's post! I only saw Butch's post and replied to it, one of the downfalls of using ForumRunner!

Anyways, to the original poster, book it you will have a great time!
We met some friends here on the board and when we met in person it was like we were already old pals! Are group ranged from late 20s to probably around mid 40s or so? It was a lot of fun and we are all planning to be back at the same time this upcoming year, you can really let loose there. Hope to see you then!

 

Hey guys! We've been talking to Jerry and Melissa quite a bit and we plan on going at the same time again. We've been watching the GOV trip reports and it doesn't look like the party atmosphere is where it needs to be yet. As of now we are thinking TTR is the safe bet. We know we can't go wrong there. Looking forward to partying with you guys again!

 

We will be at TTR 11/28-12/8 We were debating GOV but it cost more and based on all the reviews we've read we are more suited for the party atmosphere of TTR. It seems that GOV dies after midnight unless you want to head off resort.

I've been doing the same and I don't think I would like the rooms without a balcony nor terrace, early closing of the bar so I am finally returning to TTR Dec. 17 (tentative) Dec. 29 - Jan. 05 '15.
Can't wait to party!

 

Where were you guys looking? I looked on Travelocity and GOV is SLIGHTY cheaper, but not much. $218 a night at GOV and $221 per night at TTR.
That's for the non-upgraded rooms at GOV though.

We are so torn. We'll go back to TTR if that's where all our friends go but we still want to check out GOV. I might see if Hubby and I can do a few days at GOV just the two of us after a few nights at TTR or something. Or maybe I can get an impromtu trip this summer to GOV! (haha yeah right, when money grows on trees )
