You heard right...Web MD has the study published (link below). Basically, 30 SPF blocks 97% of the sun's rays...45 SPF blocks 98%...anything above that makes no sense. High SPF Sunscreens: Are they Better?
I heard something recently also that said whereas SPF50 offers 97% coverage, SPF30 offers something like 95% coverage (from memory). Why is SPF50 so expensive for an extra 2%? Think I'll stick with 30 in future, and just be careful and spend my time in the shade. Last trip we had a near disaster. Brought back a spray-oil that was left over from the year before - yeah know now that the cream is ok but the oil doesn't keep for a year. Spent a day on the Boobs Cruise hiding under the canopy when I realised the spray lotion wasn't working.
Next time just grab the microphone ask to be creamed ( with lotion of course) ,,,,plenty of volunteers i bet.
Poor Rome...but he has ALWAYS brought this on himself - SO many stories from his friends he's had since middle school lol We've shared the coffee stirring scenario/reputation with friends now and, while everyone is highly amused, NO ONE is surprised that this is happening lol
Gee... Chantel... why is the sunscreen you use on the Boobs Cruise biodegradable, hmm? I think you should have just come clean, pun intended, and said it was edible.
Sweet!! TY for educating me - I'll only pay for 30 SPF and pocket the extra money I'd save on the 45 SPF! Cheers, :daveandmo: C
Great tips on the SPF!! Thanks so much. I have always bough the higher one thinking it must work better if it costs so much more . I really enjoyed the tip on using the sunscreen reapplication as an ice breaker! "Excuse me, but would you mind rubbing this SPF 50 on Betty and Veronica ( left boob, right boob) so they don't burn??
Not only do I burn easily, I have a rare skin disorder that is aggravated by sun. Or, so they tell me. With proper care, I spent 9 days in Cancun without a sunburn and even did a Boob's Cruise. I wear SPF 70 by Aveeno, it is really good. Ok, maybe I don't get any extra benefit from it, but I like it & was recommended by the dermatologist. She also said to stay out of the sun.... I also wear a hat all the time and this year I bought a really great rash guard from Roxy. Long sleeves, high neck and I loved it. Pair that with a tiny pair of bottoms & I still felt sexy. Thought it would be really hot but it wasn't. I did go topless as much as I could, but tried to find shade. The bar at the Sexy Pool is awesome for that. There is very little shade on the Cruise. But up on the top, there is one area by the sail that gets shade most of the day. So, I got super lucky and found it. Otherwise, you can sit at the back under a canopy. That along with a rash guard was the back-up plan. If you're looking at a rash guard, I'd suggest going 1 size up from your regular size, they fit tight (obviously) and so if not surfing, you might as well have a little room to breathe!
