I don't recall saying people had a bad time , in recent reviews, just that the service/food/rooms were bad. They went on to say they met nice people and had a good time. But there are black and white reviews on the food and rooms.
I emailed her around 2 weeks prior to arrival and then sent a follow up the day before. Hope you have a great trip!!
I guess what I am trying to say is we saw the same "issues" or whatever with the hotel but it didn't even put a dent in the overall trip. It was truly one of the best vacations we've ever had.
I am willing to ignore "issues" like a not-so-great room or bland food if I'm having an absolute blast. (Don't forget, TTR has some dumpy, leaky rooms and some sub-par food on the buffet, too.) I'm losing faith because it sounds like GOV's attitude is "make your own fun." Okay...but I can do that at any resort on the Yucutan. I did it at Royal Hideaway, where they make your beach bed up with fresh sheets for you, bring cool, lemon-scented towels and fresh fruit to you at the pool...we met great people and had a great time AND had great food and a beautiful room on a gorgeous beach. I've been several really nice places, and at every one I "met great people and had a great time." So, if I'm going to have to make my own good time at GOV, I'd just like the same nice rooms, good food, and friendly service you can get at any other place in Cancun for the same price. If they can't get the rooms and food right, then they should be providing something in the entertainment department to compensate. Sorry...I'm grumpy today. But I've never been so stressed planning something that's supposed to be FUN, dammit!
I hope my report didnt sound as if we didnt have fun! We had a blast with wonderful people but that had nothing to do with the resort itself. We can have fun anywhere with the group we had!LOL
Totally understand previous 2 posts. And you both have conveyed and articulated very well. You can have a gr8 FUN time, with a super group of ppl at any shithole anywhere with a beach, and it would be a lot cheaper. There are many options for GOV's target clients, in the relative same price point range, that have done it longer and better. There is nothing special about the place. Those of us extremely well- versed in AO resorts are savvy enuff to identify the flaws. Perhaps it is an acquired skill. I for one appreciate and respect both of your reviews.
Its too bad cause a bit of competition would have help the rising cost of going to TTR. Even a quieter version would have been nice to do a DE-tox before heading home.
