I have been reading through the forums to research what to bring, wear, people who are going, etc.. as this is our first trip. I noticed several people talking about pre tanning. How much trouble am I going to be in??!!! I can not tan! Blame it on genes, red hair, or just sensitive skin, but any previous attempts have only led to burning red like a lobster and then peeling like a shrimp! I figured I would be safe if I just brought my SPF lotion and stuck to reapplying several times. Are there any other pasty girls out there?? Any who have been before and have advice?? My back up plan is to sleep in during the day and live it up all night. Can't get moon burned!!!!:flash:
I lot of people follow your plan , and it has nothing to do with the sun . They have umbrellas around the pool, no one uses them( well not too many).
Be diligent with high spf and you'll be fine. We have friends that are arctic gingers too and they survive by following strictish sunscreen re-application combined with heavy amounts of drinking. You will however look frosty in pictures with your pre-tanned friends. Photoshop after will solve that though and give you nice tan memories even if it's not true.
I'm Hispanic and even I was sunburned bad on a prior trip. Now we pre-tan before we go. My husband being the white boy he is needs much more pre-tanning than I do. However, sunscreen is a must. Also, when the sun gets too much for me I'll wear a white t-shirt in the pool that helps cool me off and deter the sun.
I am like you red head and fair skin but not a woman. I go out to the pool all day just have to reapply, I didn't in Jan and got burned good just used the umbrellas like said and if need to get out of the sun go see Herbert and hang there. For a while.
My wife is a red head. Check out Melanatan 2. I can provide ordering details if you need the just PM.
I'm a pasty girl and pretan. But I constantly apply suncreen. Even with a tan I can still burn fairly easy. Just duck down in the water and you'll be just fine.
I'm German and Irish...but I pre-tan 4 times two weeks before a trip, and by the end of day two, I'm as dark as the locals. Very lucky, because I'm very bad with remembering sunscreen. Jamie tans like a champ - even though she's a completely natural blonde. I'm pretty sure she made a deal wit the devil...which explains a few things. :cool014:
