I have been tracking package prices for the last couple of weeks for the end of November, beginning of December. Yesterday the prices jumped over $400 per person. I am wondering if the potential renovations will be reducing the number of available rooms which will drive up the price? Booking rooms and flights separately are not an economical option for us from our departure point. Very frustrating...
Lesson learned, don't look at prices after booking your trip. I made the mistake of looking at Westjet's site yesterday and noticed that the price for our direct flight from Kelowna to Cancun is now $184/each tax in with 2 seats remaining. Piecing together a short-notice trip to GOV, assuming room availability, would have been tempting.
Our travel agent just let me know she had saved us $160. She booked us with Apple and the price went down so she rebooked us with Apple at the lower price.
Man, I was hoping our price would have dropped so I could get some money back but it's still $600 more between the two of us. Though, I'm convinced it has to do with browser cookies, etc. and it's giving us the price it wants to give us. I could be crazy. No one ever said I wasn't!
Just a heads-up that I just sent her an email and used your name - thank you! We are looking to book for the beginning of May 2014, and should have booked a month ago - everything is over $1200/pp right now. I think we were super spoiled - last November we went for 7 nights, less than $980/pp. I keep hoping to find those rates (or similar) and haven't come close at all.
