By what I'm seeing in trip reports you would go to...

    GOV:
    -more updated hotel
-more laid back during the day
-Good if you want to party only until about 1am
-spend more time chilling out on your own

    TTR:
-Your room is for the three S's (sleeping, showering and screwing)
-Highly active and social during the day in the pool
-You want to party until 4 or 5 am without having to leave the resor
-You want to hang out with lots of different people.

though maybe I'm wrong? Who knows, I may well go take a tour when I'm down there next month (though I am only there 22 days, might not have time lol)

I would add that GOV has the best rock band (Sombra) in Cancun. (We know most of the bands)
So I have to give Viva big props on that and TTR fired their band at start of 2014 and the horrible band currently (last tuesday) is really bad

You could also stay 3-4 days at TTR and 3-4 days at GOV. Its only a 5 minute taxi ride away. Moving from one resort to another would take around 2 hours total.

obviously you don't know Bonnie, 2 hours ?? my day would be shot.

If it wasn't for long time friends, the decision would be a lot easier , they make it impossible.

I've read some real mixed reviews on GOV... To me, it's sounds like they are still a year or two away from getting their shit together.

That being said, for my money TTR is where it's at for now. I know what to expect and I have a blast! Next year if it looks like GOV is starting to come together I might test the waters there for a couple of nights.

Does TTR have organized night time parties like TTR?

I find that TTR and TTR are pretty similar.
