I watched a youtube video last night of a Feb Cancun review that showed a 3 hour wait to get through customs at the Cancun airport. Is this typical? It shows showed a luggage nightmare which tells me to just to carry on. Any tips there?
Grabbing your luggage is the fastest part of the process typically, the lines (if you are unfortunate enough to get one) are for lines to see the customs folks etc. You will save very little time by going carry on only.
We arrived sat Feb 8th and were in the middle of a bad mess, not sure if that was date of video you watched. We have been to Cancun many times and have never seen it anywhere like it was that day, but it was a very bad mess. we don't know why it happened that day, and not sure if has happened again since. but have never seen anything like that before
We arrived Feb 17th at 10am and were in our USA Transfers van by 10:30..a few years back it took us 2 hours to get thru customs..I think it just depends on how many planes are arriving at a certain time
It's kind of hit or miss in the airport. I think a lot has to do with when you arrive. Saturdays seem to be pretty bad. We arrived last year on a Thursday and went right through without any issues. Dos Equis fan is correct. Getting your Luggage is not an issue.
Dos Equis Man is right, my friend. If the airport is packed, the first thing you will notice is the endless slow moving line in the immigration room. As you wind through this nightmare, your luggage is making its way toward the carousel. When your passports are finally stamped, more than likely your luggage will be collecting dust in the carousel...patiently waiting for you. Grab it and then rush over to...the next line at customs and pray for a green light. The luggage won't take more than a few minutes of your time - certainly not enough to try to cram everything in a carry-on.
I landed at 9:45 AM and at 10:45 I was at Solymar . Depends on the time i guess. Envoyé de mon iPad à l'aide de Tapatalk
Then there's the wait for transportation outside.... Which is why we're using USATransfers this time.
You arrive a day after us...on a Thursday. I'm gonna guess that Thursdays are not the busiest day of the week at the airport. I wouldn't worry about hitting the extreme wait of 3 hours. I've always had pretty good luck getting through there.
One of the keys to a speedy trip thru immigration is to have an early arrival. The direct flights from STL arrive at 9:20 am, and are one of the first flights. Not much of a chance of a line at that time of the morning.
