Has anyone ever heard/seen someone bringing a serenade to a suite in TTR? Is it even allowed to do this in the first place? Or failing to this has someone spotted Mariachis at the beach in front of the resort. On our first trip there we never saw or heard Mariachis, not sure if they are allowed to walk around in front of resorts or if you got to go hire them somewhere else and then bring them there... Any tips of this would be welcome..

    Thanks!

You can't tame a wild mariachi, they've roamed free for too long.

Sorry, I know this was posted as a serious question but my mind just ran rampant with thoughts of mariachis on the loose at the resort lol

They used to have Mariachis at the resort years ago but haven't seen any in recent years. Never seen any on the beach.

You can hire them privately, but I'm not sure if they'd be allowed to go into the hotel.

Perhaps just arrange for them to meet you at the beach as people wander that all day long and aren't necessarily from the resort - the waterfront is public, I believe, and so if your mariachi band could gain access from that area or you could arrange to meet by the wave runner launch area you might have success.

As for the comment about people who wander the beach front, that brings up a general beef as we experienced a group of people walking along the beach where many of us are topless, and their reaction was clearly not respectful as they make rude comments about the resort and the guests, etc. While we figure that they are just curious about what goes on, we have to wonder what tempts teenagers and/or parents and their children to trapse along a beach where they hear the goings-on at the sexy pool and see women of all ages and sizes topless and then have the nerve to be judgemental.

The beach is a public area, resorts have no claim to the beach area in front of them. From what I understand you're not technically supposed to be topless on it as that's not allowed in Mexico.

Serenade: A piece of music sung or played in the open air, typically by a man at night under the window of his lover.

Mariachi: Denoting a type of traditional Mexican folk music, typically performed by a small group of strolling musicians dressed in native costume.

We are originally from a Latin American country and girls used to find it romantic when their boyfriend/husband would show up late at night (or early in the morning 2, 3 AM) and wake them up with a Serenade. Usually you bring the Serenade with a Mariachi band or with a Trio, and you get to sing along with them (well it is not mandatory that you sing yourself but if you do, it's better) to your lover. In Spain and Portugal I believe they have something similar but is called differently. Normally you start singing right outside your lover's window and she comes and open them up and hear you out :)

Not sure if this would be allowed since other guests might complain about the noise, pretty sure they would wake up too. So doing it outside at the beach is popular too when you want to do it at a busy place like a hotel.
