Carol to Cancun: Fund Raise

Once in a while we use the power of our fantastic community to raise funds for worthy causes.

Carol Sollenberger (Mommabear) from Illinois has been a member of cancuncare for over 3 years and is a regular at Temptation, often with the April Addicts crew. Carol did not plan on making it this year largely due to the fact that she has been caring for her Dad who has Alzheimers. Over the last two years Carol has devoted pretty much her entire life to caring for her Father and make this horrendous illness as comfortable as possible for him.

Unfortunately, his Alzheimer's has got to the point where the best course of action is for Carol's Dad to live full time in a specialist care center. The care center costs $4,000 a month and Carol is having to sell off her Dad's assets to meet the bills. I know Carol would never spend money on a vacation with this kind of ongoing monthly bill.

I feel Carol deserves a break and I am sure all her Cancuncare friends who know what she has been through, and is still going through will agree. Our mission is to get Carol and her boyfriend to Temptation for a week in April, to join the April Addicts crew.

We will run a fund raise for one month, anything we raise over and above the amount needed to pay for air and hotel will be given to Carol to put towards her Dad's care costs. I will cover all Paypal fees, and will start the ball rolling with a $100 donation and throw in 2 free places on a Boobs Cruise. Glenn and Monique will be helping out in arranging hotel and flights.

I have followed the story of Carol's undying love for her father, and can only hope that my own daughter grows up with the same values. Let's show what a caring community we are and recognise her love and sacrifices by helping her have a fun time at Temptation!
