Where is a good place to buy some souvenirs? I kinda want to go to Mercado 28 but I have heard some pretty bad things about that place. I'm OK with haggling for a price. I'm a salesperson myself so I get it. I don't want to get much but I would like to get a few shot glasses for my girls, maybe a necklace (cheap), a photo album, and something for my house that when I look at it I think of Cancun :)

    Any thoughts?

we have always went down to the market.. As long as you can put up with all the people wanting you to buy from them, you can get really good deals. Not sure if they are real or not, but we have bought several pair of oakley sunglasses for $10.00 each. They started out like $40.00, but they will come down to 10.00 if they think you will go to the next shop and buy them there.

Ummm yeah, doubt those are real Oakley's, check for a serial # and Oakley's primarily don't have stickers on em indicating "polarized" or whatever.

Get a shot glass and fill it with beach sand. Keep it on your desk and think of the good times :)

Put them on and see if you can still read your cell phone screen easily. If you can, then they aren't polarized.

For $10.00.. Who cares.. When I wear them, I dont think someone will ask me to take them off, so they can see the serial #, so they can tell if they are real or not.

Unfortunately a lot of knock-offs do not have UV protection so they can damage your eyes.

While that is true I purchased the $10 dollar pair brought them home. The oakleys I bought, have the quick snap out lenses, and guess what,... the real Oakley replacement lenses, that are polarized with all the expensive bell and whistles snap right in to the knock offs and you can buy the replacement lenses from Oakley pretty cheap (cheaper than a real pair of Oakleys).......... Winner Winner chicken dinner, I missed those last year in Mexico down by Playa, I had purchased the knock offs the year before that and thought maybe the suppliers got busted, glad to hear they may be back around, lost my others!!! (which is why I hate spending a bunch on the real deal, ill just get them stepped on or lost!:mnm:

Across the street from the hotel and maybe down a bit there's actually a small market as well. You could always start there and see what you can find.
