It depends. No seriously.. it depends on what they offer you and what you want. Some say yes, some say no. Only way to know for sure is to sit down, listen to their social and see if it works for you. Jamie
For us, not even close to be worth it.. Been temptations 16 times. just booked for june 2-10 from chicago for 992.00 per person. The couple we always go with and us sat down the last time just to see what they had to offer. We each got a completely different offer.
You pretty much negotiate your contract with them...they play hard ball and try to get you drunk. They play the game very well by saying no way they can meet what you counter with...then come back with a split the difference offer which a senior rep will come by shortly after saying they actually can't do that offer because the sales rep didn't have the authority to offer that, then your rep says he / she will smooth it over and get you the deal...they know their game well! Oh yeah they will start off at $30K +. Is it worth it? All depends on your sense of perceived value for what you pay and get in return. Lets say you pay $10K for 700 nights, 2 year complimentary memberships in RCI, SFX and World Pass ($99 ea /year) with everything they offer to get 35% off the "rack rate" of the hotel for what ever period you want to book...example you pay $130/night for a $200/night room on the resort website that you can get from let's say Expedia for $170/night (possibly less)... Do the math at Expedia prices; you're saving $40 off that price x 700 nights. There is a potential savings of $18 K after the initial $10K spent. So it comes down to how well you negotiate with them on the price and how many nights you trade in 7 night blocks with SFX and RCI etc., which also includes extra fees (currently $199). We are members btw, and are doing ok with what we have.
So, if I spend 9 days at $135 per night for a total of $1170, plus lets just say $450.00 each for airfare. Thats a total of $2070 for me if Im a premier member. We paid $1984 for us booking it ourselves as non members. Just dont make sense to us
Our trip in July is running about $1880 right now out of Dallas, Tx. for a week. It will most likely drop a little a couple of months from now. Always does.
From reading this question soooo many times on here it seems to make a big difference if you are Canadian vs. American or over seas. If you are Canadian the generally sense is it's a waste of money
But it does work for us...not as good as it originally was (before the RCI fiasco)...still good for our $. Mind you it still comes down to what you negotiated and got for your $.
