Well it finally happened. Three years on this site wasting my lunch break (and probably a bit more) and work has finally blocked the forum. I guessed it would eventually; thankfully with smart phones I can still waste my time here, just slower to type and probably more typos!
I'm sure the computer geeks at work will see that I'm restricted to my smart phone soon as well. Although...I never feel my time on here is wasted - at work, however...
I'm very fortunate that my work has a very lax policy. Basically they just tell us to surf safely and not get any viruses. Pretty much the same approach I take to my vacations in Cancun come to think of it lol
I doubt Steve will comment on this. He has too much class from what I have seen of his dealings as a Moderator. To those members here who like to press the edge of explicit content (pics with nudity, etc), while we all enjoy it, it is likely costing Steve thousands of dollars in lost ad revenue. The above post regarding a work filter now blocking this site is a good possibility that cancuncare has picked up an adult content label from one of the major filter / search clearing houses that filter software companies use to classify websites. Once a site gets this sort of explicit content labeling from one of the centralized spam/porn filter lists, its very difficult if not impossible to get re-evaluated or reclassified as a legitimate site. This effects the ad revenue through Google ads. Click though ads don't normally want to be posted on sites where the content is labeled "adult". I am too familiar with this procedure as I fight a similar battle constantly due to the amount of email we generate for our customers. What can you do as a member? Keep it classy. Support his other businesses, and personally recommend his sites and tours on other travel sites. Steve, sorry if I stepped out of line here, but it frustrates me to see you suffer do to the action of others.
I too deal with it every day, but if you submit to the right places they will remove it within about 72 hours, if they dont you can request a formal review.
Wait until Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation comes into effect July 1, it'll be even worse for us Canadians lol I keep trying to educate people here and they just don't get it.
There needs to be a central repository for a black list, where we can all submit and point our servers too. Each company runs their own and its a serious pain in the butt. We run our own black list and just block ranges of IPs, but its a never ending battle. Some of my terminal servers take 600 thousand hits a night with logon attempts, its sick. They are never getting in, but they try. But we digress into the work talk. LETS PARTY!
I had wondered off and on about this myself. I work for a top5 tech firm with an extraordinarily tight adult filter. Yet I've been able to lurk here for 3.5 years reading at least weekly if not daily closer to trips...but I'm only a very intermittent poster. Some day tho I'll probably join Trish in being forced to my phone and/or tablet for my daytime CC hit....
