would the hotel be able to break a 100 dollar bill (us) for 20's 10's and 5's and would there be a fee? Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk
Your better off buying Peso's with your Canadian money in the first place. The Canadian Dollar is tanking compared to the US but has remained constant vs the Peso...you'll save some $$$ in the long run this way. Also, as someone else on this forum pointed out, although many places will accept the US greenback, they can't pay their bills with them in Mexico. Worst case scenario...hit up a Canadian bank with your Benjamin's and exchange there
Does anyone have a recommended place to exchange money into pesos? I haven't exchanged dollars to pesos in a long, long time. When I was in Germany, I just used an ATM to get Euros.
You can do the same thing Mexico (using the ATM) for the best rates. Otherwise across the street from the hotel is an money exchange with better rates than the hotel. Also, US $100 bills are the most counterfitted bill there is so most places in Cancun will shy away from even taking one. Better off with $50's as your largest bill. Jamie
The new $100's are virtually uncounterfitable...............if Maxie has the right technology! Seriously...........no major worries!
Many places in Cancun will not even accept $100 bills, in my experience. Try to bring mostly $20s and below, as all change is made in pesos.
It's easier to tell what denomination pesos are when you're drunk. They're different colors. US $ all sorta blends even tho they've started to drunk-proof their money with slight color tinges.
