This kind of makes me have new appreciation for TTR. For all the faults and niggles, they've been working on their concept for a very long time now and it's a well oiled machine in that way. It is 10% hotel concept and 90% how guests react and embrace the concept that works. It used to annoy me that the Temptation name made it slightly embarrassing to tell people back home where l vacation, but it actually weeds out all the more prudish that might decide not to book TTR for that very reason and might enjoy the aduIt only nature of GOV without the craziness of TTR?
Unfortunately, a lot of people who look for "Adults Only" are looking for peace and quiet. We've only been to one Adults Only before Temptation (Royal Hideaway) and it was the biggest snooze-a-thon you can imagine. Beautiful and luxurious, but the other guests were like beached orcas. They laid in beds with kindles all day, and the biggest excitement was deciding whether to tan the front or back. Everything shut down at 11:00. Very few people would even chat with someone--couples mostly kept to themselves even at the bars. That's why I'm freaking out a little. I don't care about luxury. I'm way too ADHD to lay around ("relaxing" kind of stresses me out...I know that's weird...) and I just don't like uptight, judgmental people (and I have to deal with way too many of them at home.) I'm now stalking GOV's profiles on different travel sites. I think it's all going to come down to whom they target in their marketing. Looked at a bunch so I might be mixing some up, but I think Expedia and Travelocity's profiles call the hotel "risque" but Orbitz and Priceline are stressing "quiet" and relaxing. Can't find any mention of topless optional on any.
That makes no sense to me...That is just asking for people to complain. The new concept took over Dec 23rd so they should have had everything up to date by then (topless optional, bar hours etc). I am starting to think they are telling everyone what they want to hear to get them to book. And obviously it has worked but will bite them in the ass in the end game. We are going and gonna have a blast one way or the other but they have a lot to prove if they ever want us to book again...
I couldn't agree more and we feel the same way. We are going in two weeks and luckily there are many people from CCC and the Facebook page that I have been talking to, so we are going to make the best of it, so GOV better watch out! lol
There was no mention of wrist bands at all and nobody was wearing any. That was another thing we talked about as well. Why advertise something that doesn't exist?
We went to El Dorado once years ago because of the adults only "Euro" vibe they promoted. Well after a day of topless tanning in a thong by the pool Connie was refered to as the "topless girl" the rest of the trip. We couldnt give a rats ass, but talk about sticking out like a sore booby...I mean thumb.
That was precisely the sort of thing I was worrying about happening. I'm going to keep my feelers out regarding upcoming reviews of GOV in the future, but I gotta tell ya, this sort of detailed review reads true, feels true, probably was 100% true, and sounds like they've got the TTR feeling clear. So, March & May at TTR it is, still. We'll see how they do after a half-year's worth. Maybe October's trip? Octoberbreast at GOV? DOubt it, but I suppose anything is possible.
I even asked for my bracelet.. the clerk had no idea what i was talking about . Siigghhh.. oh and we were at coyote the night after the fire and drum show..did you stay??? That was the best night of our trip when we took the club to the beach till 5 am lol.. but yea.. im sure its disappointing when u are used to a certain type of vacay.. ive never had the pleasure of going to TTR, thats why i dont have much to compare GOV to.. i know we had fun but it was not really because of the staff or concept ..i guess that can be said for any resort?
Thank you for this report. We booked our 7th trip to TTR for week 8 and I was wondering if we made the right choice. I now know that we did. It took several trips to get the courage to go topless and wear tiny bikinis. I like being amongst many who are also free spirited. Tom bought way too many Malibu Strings for me this year for me not to wear them. We have been to several boring adult only resorts. If we want to relax at an upscale place before returning home, we have considered TTR's sister resort but have yet to give up our fun before returning to the conservative Midwest.
We left that day. We believe you can have fun pretty much anywhere if you try, but once you have been to Temptation you realize how much more fun it is to be surrounded with crazy, outgoing people that don't judge anyone for anything. We were just hoping for more of that type of crowd and think the resort has falsely advertised the adult concept they are trying to say they have changed to.
