I imagine this is exactly it. Guests there now have booked as far back as last winter. When the website is fully updated and theme nights, etc are advertised I would expect that people who look sideways at topless won't book there anymore. Basically I think it will improve with age.
Something has really changed in the two months since we were at GOV. All of the staff we were happy about all of the "party hardy" changes that were about to happen. "Just wait until next month, this place is going to be wild", we were told !!! I really assume that lots of "vanilla" folks booked back when the rates were super low and are the source of most of the problems we are hearing about !! The resort is HUGE and just a few prudies are enough to "derail our train". I would hope GOV realizes this and makes adjustments for us party animals. They advertised themselves as "Cancuns Newest Sexy Resort" We would go back anyway, just for the beach AND water, however we do like a FUN atmosphere and not a Holiday Inn. Heck, we stayed at the Royal in Playa and 25% of the gals at the pool were topless!!! Look on the bright side, most of the complaining folks are probably ugly anyway !!
Great review sweetheart. Sucks that you guys had such an unpleasant stay at the GOV, especially when we would have loved for you to stay the remaining 4 days with us at TTR. We were really hoping that this resort might be an alternative to TTR, and split time between the two next year. Maybe in the future, but for now, we have way too much fun together at Temptation. Can't wait to see you guys again. April/May maybe?? Thinking a short 5 days back in Cancun?
*&^#% MOTHER FATHER SISTER BROTHER!!!! Ya im kinda panicked as we want a fun vacation after 3 awesome trips to Mexico via TTR. But yet my awesome wife wont blink and cave to change the resort, she says, who cares, we know how to have fun and plus we have our own couple going with us.. So i guess were in for late Feb no matter what. The lines of boring people are going to try my patience though...
We wanted to come running back half an hour after we left! You know I'm in! You have to convince you know who...
We do have to comment on something though. EVERY time we read a report on here that someone tried to split their time between TTR and another resort, those that did TTR first ALWAYS regretted it. So we knew we did not want to do that. I think that is some what the problem here. Missing the party and the people is like going through withdrawls. So we knew we were not going to do TTR then "Relax" at GOV because it would not be relaxing. So the wife decided to make the executive decision and say GOV the entire trip. A new resort and annual trip to MX will be fun and we will just make it fun no matter what.. Wish us all luck.
Much as a I hate to hear what you're saying, I can't thank you enough for giving us such a detailed, honest opinion. I understand a lot of the guests there now booked before the change over. BUT... For a "change over" to happen, things actually have to, you know, CHANGE! It's one thing if the resort phases in music at the pool, starts warning guests that tonight's show will be racy, etc. But if they really were changing, they would be promoting the new concept in full force, especially on the website to attract the "new" type of guest. But, since GOV isn't doing anything online or on site to indicate they've changed, and since they're operating at 100 percent capacity, I'm completely confused. What incentive did they have to change if their current "concept" is filling their hotel? Why work with Steve if they don't really want or need Cancuncare's TTR types?
Further to that. This site is a big reason why the hotel is full. We would have never gone there without it being on this site as I'm sure lots of others So no more false advertising , let's get this turning to the more wild side. If some nerds there don't like it. To bad. Transfer them to another one of your other hotels.
Thanks for such an honest TR! Other reports seem to want to beleive the hype and blur reality. Although we have never considered going to GOV, your report reinforces our suspicions from Nov 4th 2013, when we did a tour. We felt they seem to be full of double- talk and empty promises.
