At TTR when your a member it's 149 a night and that's an upgraded room. It's simple math, after 8 weeks of use it already paid for itself. If you consider the airfare discounts also. Personally I like all the upgrades that's the reason we got it.
I have read here that they can and have raised the AI fees at their discretion. Is that with just certain contracts or all of them.? Do the airline discounts apply to all carriers ?
High pressure sales and they constantly change the rules without any warning. If you go to the sales pitch and turn them down be prepared to be yelled at and told what a fool you are being !! Obviously we found out the hard way. We however love the resort and are returning for the first time since 2008. This will be our 5th time. We do have several friends who have been members for years and have had minimal problems with them.
Now I say that but I haven't been there or talked to them since 2009. I guess it is possible that they've changed their tactics .
I went through the sales pitch last year and told them no. They constantly try to barter with us but we Did not cave in. I was not going to cough up thousands of dollars if I Might not use it. Maybe when I retire and have time to travel everywhere and have no kids, Maybe then I would buy into it.
EVERY--and I mean that to the fullest extent of the word, EVERY deal is different. It's all about the negotiations, and what you can get worked in on the deal. Over the past 14 years--I've heard of so many different packages it's unbelievable. One thing to keep in mind--it's only right for you if you are willing to barter, argue, and battle for all you're worth. We've been members for years--and I don't think there's been two years we have paid the same price for the same service. With all figured in this year (GREAT deal--probably best ever) we are paying $303.20 for an 8 night stay. If you can find a better deal than that--you must be using a free AI week!! Plus, we obviously get all the perks from the Premier membership--just a bonus!!
The fees (at least on new contracts) are tied to the Mexican Price Index for maximum increases (aka inflation). The one exchange I have works quite a bit like an Expedia or itravel2000 etc. You put in your airport and dates and it shops for flights. I haven't booked that route yet but prices seem similar from what I can tell, if not better than the other sites.
