You misunderstood, Kim will be wearing the red high heels while spanking me, this is Temptations , not a Sandles resort.
We've only been to TTR once so far (last September but already planning a return visit SOON!), but one thing that we really enjoyed about TTR is the intimacy of the place. After a week there you know a large number of the people that are staying there because you see them every day. I think a lot would be lost if they get much larger. I remember seeing all the "high rise" resorts, etc. and don't want to stay in anything like that.
Steve, Have you personally been to Cabo when it was TTR or Desire under the Original Resort Ownership? That resort was much smaller than Cancun but it was so very well thought out and would make for one awesome resort in Cancun. (Just bigger scale) Apparentely Cabo just didnt have the traffic, But we went to Cabo Twice b4 going to Cancun and only because we didnt have the Cabo choice anymore.. Everybody we met that had been to both love the resort of Cabo better than Cancun, but the party was better at Cancun. How do you thing the Resort could be modified to be more like Cabo? We have our ideas but who are we?... lol
No hot tub talk? Seems like that should be one of the first plans. The only turn-off about TTR for me is the caste system right now. If you're not a member, you can't sit in a hot tub, lie on a beach bed, or sit on certain pool chairs. Every time we've gone, the segregation has become more obvious. Ironically, we don't see many members using these facilities--a lot of them are right in the pool with us peasants. This creates a weird scene where staff are standing around guarding empty beds and chairs while groups of 12 or more crowd around 1-2 chairs. ..which of course lures more members out of their zone. I hope that as they build and remodel, they won't continue segregating the crowd.
My fear is that is exactly what they want to do - build nice new rooms for the Premier members and let the old rooms continue to get worse.
Were Cabo TTR veterans - so much easier to get to for us west-coast folks and it cetainly was under-appreciated as a resort. We like to think the Cancun TTR sell outs are do to them closing Cabos. We're hopeful Original Resorts will buy a property on the west coast of Mexico and open up something. Nothing can be done to make Cancun more Cabos like as the facility is more than 2X the size. Only reason TTR Cabos had a hot-tub was that it used to be a Desire, don't think TTR will ever get a large group hot tub.

Being members and having paid (unfortunately) more than a small chunk of $ for that privilege I / we do expect a certain amount of extras but not at the total expense of others. A members area and bar is good in my books as long as it is not 50% of the pool or beach area that winds up going unused and forcing others in to tiny confined areas. Nothing personal but we did pay for something above the ordinary and should get that. We have friends who are non-members and who are members and we always manage to make things work so no one is better served / taken care than anyone else. Yes we may set up shop in the members area but we hang around the pool with friends and don't take chairs there as well. I agree the resort can't just cater to members and let everything else slide...which I feel they don't overall. We upgraded to a Jacuzzi room on out last trip (which is not a member room by any stretch of the imagination)...just a room with a balcony Jacuzzi...no better or no less than the 5000 block rooms. Other than an expanded menu at the ala carte restaurants, some reserved seating pool side, different check-in, discounted (5000 block) ocean view rooms and a supposed premium liquor selection we are no different than anyone else except we paid a pretty penny to get a few perks. And those perks are smaller than one may think. Please don't blame the resort for trying to cater a little more to people who have upgraded their vacation and please don't hold it against members who have paid to have a few more perks. In the end we are probably paying a lot more for our vacation for those few minor perks than those paying what ever internet price! Trust me on this, price wise it isn't the best deal out there being a member... IMHO Scott
