Ok this may sound like a ridiculous question lol....I have heard that organic coconut oil is great for tanning and believe it or not helps against sun burn. I use organic coconut oil daily as a moisturizer to cooking with it.. not all from the same jar lol. During the summer I did use it everyday and found I had darken quicker then usual which as my hubby says all I have to do is look at the sun and I tan. As well our son is pretty fair skin with dry skin issues he started using it this past summer and not once did he burn all summer long which normally he does at least the first time out in the sun. But the sun rays here are much different then those in tropical areas. I have read many benefits from the use of coconut oil has anyone had any experience with the use of it themselves?

It is great for the skin and to cook with. Seems that coconut oil is a big trend nowadays and used for many purposes. For getting a tan as you said maybe it does both, helps with tanning and repels sun burns. Haven't had all that much experience using it except for the skin moisturizers but you are right about the benefits of its use.

Tried tons of expensive prescrription creams to handle my two daughters eczema, none seemed to be working, thank god for dr oz and his recommendation of coconut oil, been using it on them daily for the last three months and they are both exzema free

the oil moisturizes your skin and prolongs the dreaded peal,, hence prolonging your tan.

why i tend to use Suntan oils versus creams.

    also stops wind burns

Apply organic coconut oil, pineapple juice and rum and you have the recipe for a pina colada body shot. :icon_biggrin:

It's also great to use as an oil when giving a massage. About the time it soaks in is usually a good time to end the massage or move on to a different body part or location. It's also a terrific oil to use for adult activities!:69::3some::aktion033:

Yes, it is good for all these things! It has been used in natural and crunchy circles for a long time... But I think it is just now getting more mainstream. And as mentioned it makes a good lube!

;-) I use it on my skin instead of moisturizer and my doctor also told me to use it on my son's eczema.

We will be bringing some to TTR because it is good for sunburn and it is great on chapped lips as well. There is nothing it cant do LOL

Its great to cook with, for your skin, as a lube, but don't expect it to be a sunscreen.

We just got back and one of the people we went with tried to use it as a sunscreen replacement and burnt. If you are already very tanned it may be ok but I would still get a commercial sunscreen.

I used a spf 55 all week and still came back very tanned.

Thanks everyone for your replies....I know that there are many uses for Coconut oil...been doing some research on it and as of lately been giving it to my mom in her daily fruit smoothies I make for her to help with her memory. But just like anything it is always good to have feedback from others that have used it for various reasons.....including lube lol. I did use it this summer more so as a moisturizer for my skin but seems that I tanned quicker and that it lasted longer. I was very surprised that our son never got sunburn either, but as mentioned before it seems the sun is different in the tropics and just wanted to see anyone has used it as a tanning agent while on vacation.

I wish I didn't develop weird allergies a few years ago. I LOVE coconut products.
