Let's Do It......March 1st craziness at GOV?

(Originally posted this in a different thread) The GOV reviews seem to be quite good overall........definitely improving.....and the pics look great. Like Steve and the others say it will take a bit to fully convert the clientelle over to the new atmosphere.....but it's coming. We're ready for a change but we want some crazy fun too lol. There seems to be plenty of CancunCare'ers waiting and thinking the same. Can't wait to hear from those already going......the roll call is kinda spread out from Feb thru April so far. We like Feb but want to give GOV a bit longer to fully convert.........and April is a bit late as it's getting warmer in Canada then lol. Anyone up for promoting Mar 1st as the first unofficial week of "craziness"? Just a thought......a good group going at the same time would guarantee some good fun. Would love to see everyone there..........can't you all come lol?

Just cancelled and rebooked at GP. We'll probably try GOV next year -- too much uncertainty when we get just one week away from the kids! Can't wait to see more reviews from everyone for GOV.

 

Feb 26 - Mar 4 close enough for ya? Bring it on

 

With the latest groupon ad and the links to the PDFs within which clearly state the intention to turn gov into one hell of a party we are convinced that the potential pros (nicer rooms, restaurants, bars, beach, jacuzzi, etc) far outweigh the potential cons (less of a party scene). We are going to book an early may gov / Desire pearl combo. Just need to figure out the exact dates. Hopefully others will join us and we make our own party if gov hasn't fully turned over yet.

 

We are going to book Gov from about May 6th - 15th. As this will more than likely be a once only trip to Cancun (due to distance) the better rooms / facilities are a big plus to us.

 

We are likely to book most, if not all, of our week at GOV. May 8 -14. Probably wait until after the official changeover date (dec 23) to finalize our reservations.

 

Had already decided this past May to split our next trip between another resort. We also will be going the first of May to GOV, just not sure of the dates.

 

We are actually leaning pretty much that same timing. And if several of us end up booking the same dates then that will clinch it for us. Current thought is to book a package via orbitz/Expedia that gets us a discount on a Desire pearl stay for the final 3 or 4 days may 12-15th ( never been to Desire pearl but want to try that too) and leaves may 8, 9, 10, 11 open (orbitz now lets you book hotels for part of your stay and still get the package discount) and then later add gov or TTR on to the front end of the trip for may 8/9/10/11. Pretty sure we are going to try gov for the above mentioned reasons but this gets us locked into the flights and Desire now before prices go up and allows us to wait a little on gov/TTR. Currently GOV for those nights on alpharooms is about $170 a night so it is fine booking separately.
