Book cheapest room, ask for upgrade options on arrival. If you dont like your first room ask to see another, they are usually happy to help.
i agree with steve. first trip we booked a deluxe oceanview room, it was nice and the big shower was great. 2nd floor looking out at the sexy pool. second trip did the same and they put us in a room (after three tries) on third floor overlooking sports pool that if you looked out of the corner of the balcony you could catch a view of water. it had twin beds. not what we wanted but it was kinda cool for the closeness and worked out very well... this past trip we just booked a garden king room. got a ground floor in 5 block that was by the sexy pool which worked out great during the day and was peaceful at nite. 1st floor made walking home from patyos much easier for lin in her heels. i would say we spend a good amount of time in the room for all the necessary things and "our" time so we want it clean and plenty of towels. i think you'll get this in any room you choose. the staff is really responsive to any request. this trip the did ask if we wanted jacuzzi room @ $50 per nite. it's not necessary for us since we like shower time more.
This is all great advice. We've had various rooms in block 5, last years had 2 twins though, not really what we wanted. I think we'll be trying the jacuzzi room at check in next time
