I have to agree with some of the recent statments, it does make sense to close the 1000 block, but adding capacity is a bad idea, they have no where to go now. The sexy pool is over crowed in Feb, and we have never gone in peak season, I could not even think what it would be like, The beach was very full when we were there as well. So where are they going to put these new people? If you add 200 more bodies, what is pattyo's going to be like? Its already a mad house in the evenings, not enough seating for most people. Will be interesting for sure, they will have to reopen the cigar lounge into something else. Or give us a larger space for pattyo's Thoughts? How is the quiet pool during the day? (we did not go there last Feb, not even once) The sports pool is fairly quiet, at least in Feb.
This is a bit disheartening to hear as we just bought a Premier membership in August and no one mentioned anything about this. But we just had some friends get home on the weekend and they said there is a lot of work going on, so that is a positive sign. It would be good though if Management made some sort of statement.
One of the basic rules of business is if your demand is greater than your supply the create more supply ... If the investment in the increased supply can be recouped in a reasonable amount of time. All about the dollar bills. The alternative is raise the prices to see if you can make more money off of the supply you have without decreasing the demand. Looks like that is already happening for 2014. Good problems for the resort management to have. Good for us only if they reinvest that income in the resort which it sounds like they are doing. I take all of this as good news. Change can be good.
We had some friends and family stay at the resort to the north of TTR (Cancun Bay Resort, which used to be Q Resort). It was very nice, and absolutely deserted. I have no idea who the owner is, but it would be an easy way to increase the capacity of the resort by 50%. TTR was originally three different resorts, and adding a fourth would only make sense.
They COULD do the same to the south - we stayed at the Ocean Spa once on a visit prior to our 1st stay at TTR. Middle of June and I could proably count on 2 hands how many rooms were occupied.
I still say that whenever we ALL check out and fill out the comment card? say it was getting TOOOOO expensive.?????
renovations I too heard this. As long as the atmosphere is still there! They are renovating now and to be done in April 2014.

Improvements are fine and some needed, but we dont want it to the point that the price increases out of our range. Im afraid that may happen though.
