You mean "safe" like no one is going to shoot at you, or the car won't be stolen, or you won't get ripped off or what?

Well, that still doesn't explain what you mean by "safe".

    I agree.

I'm interested to know as we will probably purchase a car when we'll move to Mexico. :wink3:

Well, I've bought 4 cars in Mexico, both, new and used, at a dealer, from Hertz and two at the auto "tianguis" (sort of a car flea mkt) and had no problems with any of it. The only thing you have to do is be sure the car has all the paperwork and everything is paid up. In Mexico, you have to show the original factory invoice and the entire lineage of owners to be able to register your car every year.

I tried to register my Jeep in Merida, once, and one of the owners had changed company name between buying and selling the Jeep and I had to get the company to write a letter stating when they had made the change. Otherwise, I could not register the Jeep. If the company had gone out of business, I would've been screwed.

Btw, a friend of mine is selling a 2003 VW Jetta in pretty decent shape with 97,000 km (about 60k miles). She's asking 65,000MXN, about 5k USD. I'm sure she'd come down a bit.

I am selling my Florida registered 2002 Ford Escape. Got an 07 Escape and I don't need two cars.

    FORD ESCAPE 2002

I need to sell to an Inmigrante or Migrante.

Let me know if this interests you.

Don't you have to get rid of it as soon as you become a permanent resident, though?

Yes, that is why I said "I need to sell to an Inmigrante or Migrante."

So let me add the buyer needs to stay in one of those INM statuses or sell the car before becoming a PR or RP. I did not want to confuse the situation just yet as it's easier to disclose/explain in detail to someone inquiring.

Not everyone becomes a Permanent Resident as we all know.

This is a seriously nice car as those who know it/me could attest.

It would probably be good for someone who is just now getting his first temp res visa, since it would probably be four years before he would go permanent , if at all. By that time, its probably time to upgrade, anyway.

Btw, don't you have to go permanent after 4 years or get out or did I misunderstand the new law?
