Just wondering if anyone else has ever gone to TTR with just a carry-on bag as their only luggage. The wife and I have been debating on this for a bit. We both figure we could pack all that we need clothes wise into the carry-on but there are all the other little things that you need to take but aren't allowed in carry-on's. Such as suntan lotion, Pepto bismal and other such liquids over a certain amount. Does anyone know of any grocery store or anything else that isn't going to charge an arm and a leg for this and is super close to the resort as well. We've been to TTR before and have done the trip done to Market 28 and Walmart by bus but like everyone else don't want to miss out on the fun by the sexy pool. I see that USA Transfers now offers a stop and shop for an hour at Walmart and not like I wouldn't pay the extra $30 as it costs what it costs, the thing is after the 4 hour flight from Toronto I just want to get my butt to the resort check in change and get poolside as quick as possible. So if anyone else can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.
We use to only fly with carry on. We would take a small 3 oz tube of sunblock and then just by the rest of the liquids at the gift shop. An idea would be to bring small amounts to get thru the first day or 2 and then get up one morning and run to the market or Wal-Mart before the activities begin. It does make it nicer when you land to not have to wait for your luggage.
We do almost every year. Tip the transfer guy an extra $20 to stop by Walmart on the way and get everything you need. You can be the first through customs and out the door in less than 10 mins after you get off the plane. We usually stay for seven to ten days and always have clothes that we didn't wear. Plus the wife only has to pack thongs, so how much room can that take up....right? Also TTR has a great laundry service so if you need anything cleaned you will get it back the next day.
We've made it a full week in carry ons--and I brought 6 pairs of shoes (of course, my clothes were skimpy enough to roll up and stuff in the shoes, so that helped.) We were also able to fit all of our liquids by bringing as much in pill and powder form as possible. We divided a full-size sunscreen into mini bottles and shared as many toiletries as possible. There is a fantastic mega mart on the main drag just a short bus ride from the hotel--closer than Market 28, and not a Walmart. Wish I could remember the name! Their prices were good, and they had an amazing bakery. The front desk could direct you there.
If we didn't do the theme nights... Probably lol.. But our 9 day trip with theme night stuff came out to 2 large suitcases & 2 large carry ons lol...
We will be flying with just carry on's in October. Spirit had 29 dollar flights from FLA and I'm not going to pay more for my bags than myself.
We've never done it but are planning on it for our upcoming trip (10 days). We are flying with Air Canada and have a stop in Toronto. We are allowed 2 carryons each...we'll make it work, and stop to Walmart for anything we can't carry on.
