USA-Transfers offers a 1 hour stop on the way to the hotel from the airport for an extra $30. Is this worth it? I figure it's convenient to get it out of the way with a service I trust with my bags.. but I'm wondering if it's worth an extra $30 on top of the $35 base cost to transfer to the hotel vs. getting settled in the hotel and taking the bus/taxi there and back to grab some extra items. Thoughts??
The bus is SUPER cheap, although can sometimes be crowded, plus it makes frequent stops. Taxi will cost $10-$15 each way.
Why not just go to Walmart at home before you leave? Pack toothpaste and a Bubba Mug and fly with them. I'd never waste a precious minute in Cancun at a Walmart. Make sure you don't forget anything before you leave and you don't need to worry about it.
I spent 2 weeks last year without leaving the resort (less one excursion) so I know I can manage! There are just a few things I wanted to pick up that I can't exactly pack. i.e. case of beer since I'm not a fan of the dos! That helps a ton. Thanks!
I'd say get the bus, but it is a pain having to go off resort as well. If only it was a more reasonable price like $15 or so with USA. $30 seems steep when it's not going out of their way in the first place. Are they really thinking it's reasonable to charge $30 for someone to sit for an hour in a car?
Thanks for the heads up! There are a few other things as well! Ya thats what I was thinking. I'd rather just do it on the way rather than get to the resort, leave and come back. Hell once I'm there it's hard to get me to leave poolside! I think $15 would be more reasonable.. even if they offered 30 minutes. I know I won't be spending the full hour there because like scottydog said.. the moments in Cancun are especially precious! :icon_mrgreen:
Me too. If they offered 30 mins for $15 I'd be in, grab my redbull and budweiser and be done in 20 max.
USA Transfers is not offering a 30 min stop...it is $30 for an hour or partial hour, but I can suggest this to them. Maybe with enough people asking for it they will start offering it. I would do the $30 and stop on the way to the hotel. Get it out of the way first thing, get what you need and get on with your vacation. They stop at Superama Walmart, which has grocery, liquor and a pharmacy, but does not have clothes or toys. In the same parking lot is a Sams Club and La Europea liquor store. Bus from the hotel to Walmart downtown is cheap, but an adventure in itself. 8.5 pesos (about 70 cents usd) each way. Depending on how much stuff you want to buy, the trip back with a load of heavy bags on a crowded bus is not much fun. If you decide on the bus, I would take the bus to Walmart and a taxi back to the hotel. Still cheaper than $30 but you're spending more time on the same errand.
