Thanks guys I did not know that it was that easy, but how much money are we talking about saving here? 300 bucks 1000 bucks?

We used sun wing last year with no issues, I have also used Air Transat 9 times.

ussualy get 9 nights for the price of 7 , sometimes 10,, playing around with flights and departure dates ( I like friday to Monday 10 nights)

Keep in mind some, most flights won't be direct.
From Ottawa I fly through TO, I avoid USA terminal airport transfers because of the double customs thing on the way back( ISe Chicago, Newark...)

I booked my room last year on Skoosh.com, and they have a great 100% refund policy up to about 8 days prior to departure (I actually cancelled that booking, and did get all my money back). I booked my flight on Westjet. But this Matrix system sounds great, I am going to check it out. I only booked a package this year because of the high prices for both flights and rooms, and the fact that the direct flights were already almost full at over double last year's prices.

Re: Sunwing, I have had good and bad experiences, and a lot of people have posted here on CCC about terrible experiences with Sunwing. Be aware that you pretty much have to buy the $100 premium add-on on top of the quoted package price, as otherwise the baggage weight limits are too low to cover more than 7 days in Cancun if you plan to participate in most of the theme nights or you have a high-maintenance woman on your arm ;). Apparently the carry-on weight limits are so low now that you essentially can't bring a carry-on suitcase, only a smaller bag. The nice thing about Westjet is that they changed their carry-on guidelines last March so that it can be as heavy as you can lift, so I take a carry on with the max dimensions and throw all my shoes and other heavy stuff in the carry-on.

Also be aware that if you are over about 6'2" you literally may not be able to fit in the regular seats on Sunwing. I saw a guy who was 6'3" not be able to wedge his legs behind the seat in front of him. They had to move him to an extra-legroom seat, which costs $40 each way if you buy just a seat, not the $100 add-on. I am 5-8 with long legs, and I only have about 2 inches of clearance between my knees and the seat back in front of me. If you buy the $100 add-on, you get a lot more baggage weight, an extra-legroom seat (row 16 exit row has the most so try to get that), and a cancellation waiver that allows you to cancel your whole trip up to 4 hours before you leave (but you don't get your money back, you get a credit that I believe you have only 1 year to use). You also get a voucher for $50 off your next trip. This is all as of a year ago, check the Sunwing site before booking, as my info may be out of date!

P.S. Friends just booked April out of Vancouver, and the listed price on Expedia was $3800 for 14 days, but when they actually clicked to get to the booking page, the price was marked down to $3300! So it might be worthwhile for those of you thinking about booking a package to stalk some that you are interested in, and periodically click on BOOK to start the booking process to see if perhaps the price has dropped. I`ve found that more often than not the booking price is somewhat different than what is on the first page. $500 is a HUGE difference!

I rechecked alpharooms for April 30-may 14. 14 days there price went up around $900 bucks from around 2000 to 2900 and add flight non stop another 1150 from Toronto.
cheapest was Sunquest vacations in package for around 3600. But they messed around with me last year. Will have to wait and see if prices drop in the new year.

Sunquest offered all these fantastic deals last year Which we bought one of them through a travel agent. But was informed with less then a month before we were leaving that Sunquest Did not have an Airline contract with any carrier and Cancelled thousands of packages that they sold. They were good at refunding everyone immediately. But at that time all the other places have raised their prices. So our travel agent had to search and found a similar price but still Cost 300 dollars more and with dreadful layovers. Almost had to book at another resort. Thank God it was our first trip to TTR and had our hearts set for it.

best way to check if company has an Airline contract is to check your travel documents for a confirmed flight number and time. Sunquest at that time had all the advertised packages stating "flight details to be announced "
no flight numbers. On checking today I see the actual flight numbers on the packages. so Hopefully they honour the price of the packages.

I dont want to worry you but be carefull and confirm all the details.

So can anyone tell me the difference between a deluxe room and an ocean view deluxe room?

Are we talking about the view of the ocean here? Last year we had ocean view deluxe for 7 days 3650. This year were doing 10 days but for 5150 its a tough sell.
Were talking 235 dollar difference per person for ocean view deluxe.
Our view of the ocean was perhaps 8 square feet, we were in the 3100 room range, nice room with a king bed.

Dave & Audrey have been helping me out. We can do it for 3500 ish, but I'm paranoid about not having a room or it being all F'd up. I have gone to Mexico 10 times, this will be my 11th trip, I have NEVER EVER used anything other than an agent.

I checked AMA.ab.ca as well and its EXACTLY the same prices as selloffvacations.com the lay out is the same, the packages are the same, its like it came from the same website!

Am I being to much of a sissy, and should just book it the other way and save myself 2 thousand bucks?
