I will be arriving at TTR for my third trip on September 2nd and just wondering if the sexy pool is still freezing? It was pretty cold when I was there in December 2012. At the time, there was a rumour the heater was broken but Im not sure it it was ever a heated pool as it has not been very warm the past two times I have been there. Would appreciate any feedback from recent guests! Thanks.
I wouldn't worry about it. Last September was a tad cooler during the day than it was this april, but it was warmer in the evening in September than it was in April. We'll see you there!
The "heater" you refer to is the giant glowing orb in the sky as many people heavy repeatedly mentioned the aforementioned heater is purely a myth lol It was a little chilly in Jan. (OK it made my testes retract) but in April is was more like a warm bath. It'll be pretty damn warm when you get there as August was/is hot
ok here is a tid bit of info for all of you out there constantly curious about the temp of the pools(or at least the sexy pool). The heater for the pool is run/exchanged through the central air for the resort. So the more the a/c is run in the resort and in the rooms, the warmer the pool can be. It works something like a heat exchanger. As the a/c runs and gets colder there is an adverse effect(heat) that allows the refrigerant to stay in a vapor state. The resort uses this heat to warm the pool. Have you ever noticed on the cooler days that the pool doesn't get quite as warm as you'd like. and on the crazy hot days the water almost gets to be like a sauna and hazy appearance. This is why. So, if you want a warmer pool when it is cold out, get everyone to crank their room a/c and stay out of your room and into the pool!
ummmmm.... it's MEXICO... how friggen cold can it be? We were there feb 14- 24, and it was warm... no issues..... but, then again, we're used to breaking the ice film in the pool here in july to go for a dip.
Are you sure? I seriously doubt the existence of any such heater as when we were there in Jan. it was still hot outside but the pool was quite chilly and it had been sunny for days. The whole warmer when it's warm out and colder when it's cold out makes no sense. It's like going to 7-11 on a hot day and them only having coffee, or only slurpees in the middle of winter. What bright spark engineer would think that up? lol Now I'm going to have to take time out from drinking on our trip and hunt down the definitive answer to this. You owe me a beer lol
They have some ability to play with it, one Jan it was cold, got up one morning and there was steam coming off the pool. Also lots of complaints of no hot water in the rooms. So just in case crank up the AC even if its cold.
