I guess one of the biggest problems I have is that a life jacket or tube wasn't mentioned at all before we got into the water (or we weren't paying attention). Unlike the snorkeling where they constantly tell you that you have to wear a life jacket we didn't hear anything about using a life jacket before we jumped it. We didn't even know they gave them out for the skinny dipping until we were away from the boat. They just said this is the skinny dipping part and go ahead and jump in, so we jumped off the side of the boat. I yelled 4 or 5 times to get one of the tubes and finally someone between me and the boat heard and yelled at the crew members. Soon after this one of the workers had to jump in with a life preserver to help save someone else. I'm really not trying to start anything. I was just hoping to make it better known that life vests should be used during the skinny dipping time. Maybe mention that life vest should be worn a few times before you tell people that they can jump in.
This really does Not sound like "Our" Boobs Cruise? Loren & I went on 6 last Year. May, 2 in July, 2 in December, & April. We Never had any kind of Problem! Get Naked & Stay on the boat!
Mandatory life vest suck even when snorkeling so I can only imagine how little fun they would be when you're supposed to be skinny dipping. Having said that, people need to realize if they've had too much to drink or can't handle stronger currents. Hopefully this thread will remind people to ask for life vests rather than waiting to be told. Clearly this in an adult cruise so we should all step up and take a little more responsibility for our own safety. We're really looking forward to the September 15th cruise and I know I'll be donning a life vest with my birthday suit if there's a strong current or the drinks have been going down too easy.
My two cents is that if the crew on the boats said it was ok to jump in...that doesn't mean you should if you feel unsafe. If the crew told me it was time for tequila shots...I wouldn't expect they would need to explain that a possible result of drinking tequila shots is intoxication - everyone knows that. Just as everyone knows that humans don't float without some physical exertion and that enexpected things can happen in water. Since the skinny dipping comes after the snorkel stop - where life preservers are used...everyone on the boat would obviously know they are available for use. If someone who feels they need a life preserver jumps in without asking for one...that's what's called a bad decision. Passing the responsibility for that decision on to the boat's crew isn't at all fair.
Haha I guess we all have to now get lectures on safety before the Boobs Cruise... Steve should of told me personally I need to know how to swim before jumping in the ocean and for me not to stick a fork into the electrical outlet and not to drink the bottle labeled bleech in the supply cabinet.. this thread is unreal.. commonsense is unfortunately not for everyone. .We should have mandatory helmets and floaties 24-7 for some people in this thread.
If you ask for a parachute when skydiving you should ask for a life jacket when snorkeling (if you arent michael phelps)
It's really sad to see all these negative posts. It wasn't just my wife that had problems. 3 other males swallowed large amounts of water and two immediately threw up once back on the boat. One other male and female had to have a crew member swim after them with a life preserver. Maybe the currents and waves were unusually bad on this occasion. I guess this boat must have been filled with people that need special attention and common sense explained to them.
Yes, let's try and keep the negativity out of this. I'll be talking to the Captain next trip about what more we can do to minimise the risks.
I am a ''weak'' swimmer so I kept the flippers from snorkeling which make things a lot better. .They also had a long floating line behind the boat which drifted with the current behind the boat for safety. Glad no one drowned and are ok.
I have to say, unless we want to have Big Brother watching us all the time during every moment to make sure we are "safe" from ourselves, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE we should know our own limits. I quoted your post because you know you are responsible for you, sure people tend to watch out for each other for the most part, but you truly do have to take responsibility for yourself. Oh well I don't want to get political, just use your common sense
