So newbie here and I have a quick question, I know no one goes to TTR for the food but I would like to know how it fares? I like to eat and if I'm going to be a resort for over a week, I want to know if I will be feed well lol. Also, what's the current situation with the music? we were planned for a trip last December and there were some qualms about only techno and the same songs being played, is this still happening. Excited about finally making our first trip!
I consider myself somewhat of a foodie, and I like the food at TTR.. Best ever? No.. Better than expected? Absolutely. And as far as music goes, the music in April of this year was way better than the music when we were there in September.. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Recent review mentioned then Asian restaurant and spring rolls...oh! Time to book a return trip just for those. I don't eat them around here, but wow, those were nice. M, who goes to places just for the spring rolls said they were the best ever, but clearly drank too much, as she couldn't remember the Asian restaurant at all. In Feb, we found it decent at worst, and the restaurants were surprisingly good. It depends on your standards. If you eat fast food and big chains (Outback, Olive Garden), it's pretty good. If you eat at truly high end places (where you have separate wait staff for the water and spend $30 for salad), it may not seem so good. We dropped $30/each the other night at a local restaurant, and I wouldn't say it was much different quality. The reservation restaurants at TTT were a bit nicer. Music, eh, we clearly aren't picky, since we listen to almost everything. The weird techno stuff was actually on my iPod (so, I'm clearly biased.) We had similar concerns back in Feb, but mostly didn't notice it one way or the other. DJ seemed to honor most requests, at least from those on the floor in front of them.
I have the most pickie boyfriend! He like nothing and when we get there we was Very surprise! It's not the best food I eat in my life, but better than mcdonald's you will find something you will like that's for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
we normally have no issues with the food there.. however this past time there in May we found most dishes to be very salty.. The time before we really liked the food though so I guess it all depends on the cook at the time..
A lesson I've learned the hard way about the food is that the worse it looks, the better it tastes. The fish (often covered in strangely colored sauces) is consistently very good, and anything they grill up for you fresh in the buffet is good. Overall, I find the food good enough, but slightly on the bland side.
I'm super picky but found plenty to eat. Foods not fantastic, but its not Cuba either. Only "overall" complaint is the salt use. We never add salt to anything so most people probably would notice as much as we do.
Morning food is excellent almost always, as long as you don't need to have a wide variety of breakfast type food. The usual scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, sometimes flatcakes (can't quite all them pancakes the way I know them), fresh fruits, salad stuff (who eats that for breakfast?), breads cheeses, some rice stuff, some simplish rolls and Mexican breakfast thing I don't know the name of but which is like a taquito, if you know what that is. AND the custom omelet grill if it's running when you are there. Lunch: Least entertaining meal of the day, for me anyway. I HATE leaving the party just to eat, but if you don't, you get way too wasted. They have decent burgers, pizzas, and they have a very good burrito but they call it a "burro" for some reason. ?? Dinner: Off the hook good if you get one of the speciality ala carte restaurant reservations. Set those up your first day for as long out as you can, then make sure to go back to set up the next 2-3 days worth, too. Personally I love the Italian, and some people don't like that the menu isn't huge, but everything that comes out of the kitchen is fantastic. I'd rather have a smaller selection of excellent than a wide variety of average to poor. But that's just me. The Chinese is also excellent, but with the same sort of menu. The usual buffet is hit and miss, some days it's top shelf, other days merely average. But ... everyone forgets this ... you CAN leave and hit any of Cancun's other places to eat. Some are damn good.
