You guys have done a great job donating money over the last few months and Chinos now has a firm idea of who he wants to donate the charity money to. He didnt want to take it for himself, he wants to help those in need from Mexico. The charity Chinos wants to support is a residential house close to the hospital that puts up and feeds people who have medical appointments. Most of those have traveled from afar but don't have enough money to pay for a hotel while they have their ongoing treatment. Many of them are cancer patients. Chinos wants to buy items regularly (food, expendables etc) and deliver them on a monthly basis. Imho this is much better than passing over cash as you can be sure donations are being spent properly. Rather than try to explain everything myself, I'll let the man himself do it, with the following videos. We love your donations to help this cause and you can make them at: Chinos Cancer Cause Manos Que Protegen - YouTube A quick look around the shelter - YouTube
This is so awesome! Love the video! Love to see Chinos doing well and staying passionate about life!! See you in 39 days Chinos!! :flash:
Wow! Thank you so much for the update. Reality checks like this should really make us all realise what an awesome cause this is. Just because Chinos is up and about doesn't mean the fight is over. When cancer is involved the fight is ALWAYS on as we know. Chinos is so thankful for what we all have done to help him and in return wants to be able to help others that have to face not only cancer but conditions like that? Wow! We need to keep up the great work guys. Keep it coming!!!!
Hey there! Im new to the forum but not to ttr. Been there 7 or 8 times but never had the pleasure of meeting Chinos. He sounds like a great guy and I think what you are doing is tremendous. But as an accountant let me just say one thing. I hope someone has checked into the taxation laws in Mexico in regard to the money you are giving him. If you have set up a foundation that the money goes into, no problem. But if you are giving Chinos direct access to the money without funneling it through a not for profit foundation, you may be setting him up to have to claim part or all of that money as income. That would either cost him money out of his pocket or take a huge bite out of the money raised. My fear is that it might take the Mexicos Hacienda (their version of the IRS) a while to catch up to him and by that time whatever money hadnt been used wouldnt be enough to cover the accessed taxes and frankly he would be screwed. Just some thoughts I felt complelled to put out there. Do with it as you wish.
great point! Never thought of the tax implications but how have you been to TTR 7 times and never met Chinos? we have been 6 and have seen him several times
My 7 times have been in the last 14 months. I was in Cancun for work and my firm paid the tab. So he was gone by the time I started going there. Ive since transferred to the Cancun office of my accting firm so I think my days of staying in hotels here are over. Now I live in paradise!!!
