Tough call

We're excited about all of the stuff at TTR, including the theme nights (official, or not), but are really concerned about the Norovirus comments on the discussions.

Normally, we'd just go with the flow and take every precaution. However, due to a recent surgery, we're not going to be sporting a 100% immune system by mid-July. And that's too bad because we were really looking forward to :flash: :daveandmo:

So, we're seriously considering canceling this year's trip unless someone can show us that the virus "scare" on here is overblown. (no pun intended)

I think only time will tell. Hopefully, ccc members will keep posting upon their return from TTR so we can know how/if things are progressing over there. We will go either way, but definitely praying for this to go away soon. Keep us posted on what you decide. Happy healing!

We booked directly through the resort, so our window of opportunity to cancel is not open ended. We'll be making our decision by middle of next week. And if we do cancel, and the virus blows over, we'll be kicking ourselves (in Vegas, or somewhere else).

You definitely ought to explain your situation to the resort and request a change of venue to Desire. It can be done!

This is assuming Desire isn't having the same issue or won't be soon. A lot of people do one resort then switch to the other during the stay. If it is a virus going around it will be hard to run and hide from it. Just hoping it isn't as bad in 5 weeks when we go.

 

From reading the posts on CCC it sounds as though EVERYONE at the resort is sick. Of course, from reading this site you also get the idea that participation at theme nights is 110%.

So, we're really trying to determine if it's 70% (we'll stay home, thanks), or 10% (but they post and post on here).

Interestingly enough, the people at TTR will not acknowledge that a significant number of the people at the resort have been sick for the past 2 weeks! They say all is "fine".

Of course they would. Any business with issues is not going to tell potential customers there is a problem. Not only do they risk losing you, but they risk it getting out and losing a ton of business. Right or wrong they have too much to lose. Especially if it gets out that TTR has health issues when it sounds like Cancun is having health issues and not isolated to just TTR. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assuming they are doing what they can to stop it from spreading.
Seeing that they own Desire as well guess what they will tell you about Desire… Everything is just fine over there as well.
I have been waiting to long to go back and see new and old friends. We will be at TTR on July 21st and hope for the best. I know we won't be sick on the first day so party like rockstars.
