we were there over New Years and yes became ill Husband thought it was too much sun and fun he was tired then i felt tired too we had scratchy throats and coughs think it was combination of cold and mold in room Slept one day 18 hrs then felt allittle better went home sick for a week going again labor day bringing lysol and whatever else to not have a repeat still will have too much sun and fun
Ya I came home with a throat infection in April, 2 weeks of Penicillin when I got home took care of it.
They gave the wife something like penicillin... They gave me some gargle & swallow stuff I had to take 6 times a day...
There's obviously something going on...too many guests sick at the same time to be sun and alcohol related. Whether it's one guest that came down with something highly contagous or something at the hotel causing it is hard to say. Hopefully they're making every effort to find out and solve it. The other issue that bothers be is how management mishandled the situation with the couple who were unprofessionally asked to leave. I love Cancun and TTR, but there's no doubt that there's a cultural difference between how problems are handled by management compared to how things might be addressed north of the border. I still can't wait to get back to TTR though...all things considered. If I had a trip planned for tomorrow...I'd be excited as hell!
how about fungus? my last two trips i left nyc while being sick..really sick...antibiotics and all....once we landed in cancun i was as good as new..go figure however, we just got back on 5/23 and evidentley some mexican fungus piggy backed its way to nyc with me on my toes. didnt notice anything for the first few days but once i did it looked sooo bad. Some creme from the dermatologist cleared it up...would rather not have spent the couple hundred on the visits and meds though has anyone else experienced this?...trying to figure out if it was the pool, the floor or the plants growing in the water right off shore...would like to avoid whatever the hell it was when we return in August
I talked to a buddy who works at Barcelo Costa and he said they haven't had any issues with sickness. Hopefully this recent issue that impacted multiple guests has subsided. I'll be reading a lot of trip reviews between now and when we head down in July.
Food and Water Can anyone help with this then? we were there May 22 till 5 June 14 days see same barstaff/waiters ect everyday they were not ill surely they drink and eat the food so not sure if this is to blame. i got ill last two days at TTR in bed whole time still we left, got home now on antibiotics been off work all week so is it the aircon? Done some crazy things with a mad bunch of people in the rain so it could have been that LOL :icon_biggrin:
If anyone expects the resort to ever admit when there's a problem you're dreaming. Whole resort could be sick n they'd deny it. Bad publicity then words spreads around n people won't go cause of rumours of it.
