After our very fun April trip to TTR, my wife has promised to get both her navel and nipples pierced for our next trip. Not really sure about all of this piercing stuff !!! There were some very attractive jewerly on display around the Sexy pool. Is this stuff painful, dangerous, expensive??? My wife has a very very good plastic surgeon up in Marietta. Should we use him or some of these local "piercers". She is afraid of the local folks being one of these "chain gang tatoo artists".

Generally speaking, the larger more established tattoo parlors are often the best, most hygienic places to get piercings done. Mind, Stacia's got exactly ZERO piercings as that's the way I like her (no need to try to add anything else, eh!), but our daughter has SEVEN (no clue why...).

Guy who did my daughter's was a biker-style guy, skinny, long rattail down to the small of his back, tatted up, but he knew his business. Back in the day I spent some years as a paramedic and he guy did nothing without using aseptic technique, right out fo the hospital protocols. VERY clean place.

My wife's plastic surgeon, who is also very, very good, doesn't do anything with piercings, and could probably figure it out, but I "think" that if Stacia were going to get her nipples pierced (not for me... just sayin'...), I'd have her go to the biker dude as he's done literally thousands of them.

I got my nipples done at a well know Tattoo/Piercing parlor and asked friends and friends of friends for recommendations. It wasn't too painful for me, but I have a high pain tolerance.

I like the sensitivity it has given me, but everyone is different.
Maybe try clamps first or the non piercing jewelry to get an idea.

We're pierced. It's not for everyone! Nipple piercings are extremely painful as you might suspect--- lots of nerve endings!

keep in mind that some piercings take longer than you would think to heal

I don't remember it hurting at all when I got my nipples done. I have nursed three babies though so I think that toughened them up a little lol They are by far my most favorite piercing! I got mine done at the tattoo parlor. They bled just a tad the night I had it done but nothing after that.

This is an interesting thread for me (Andrew) as I really love it when a lady has her nipples pierced. On our trip to TTR in Jan. and again in April I made a point of engaging quite a few women who had pierced nipples as I'm trying to convince Ali to get hers done, rather unsuccessfully.

    My finding were:

    It doesn't hurt at all
    I hurts a little
    It hurts like hell

There is a loss of sensation
There is no change in sensation
There is an increase in sensation

    Healed right away
    Healed in a few weeks
    Took a while to heal

As with most things involving the human body it appears that results vary depending on the individual.

Ali is still refusing to have hers pierced and I'm OK with that as any loss of sensitivity would be detrimental.

Now, I'm still working on her getting her belly button pierced... I will keep you posted :)

Don't have my nipples pierced (have thought about it tho) but did have my belly button pierced. I just took it out not long ago after having it for almost 10 years. I agree with doing it at a reputable tat/piercing shop vs. the plastic surgeon. Like said before, they are specially trained and do thousands of these piercings. You can tell just by looking around if the shop is clean and going to be good. Make sure they use a new needle/gloves/sterile environment ect. Pain for the belly button isn't bad really. The clamps are worse than the needle. I didn't even feel the needle itself because the clamps make the area numb eventually.
