I would think it is safe too say it is the LARGE groups of single men that we would rather do without. And if you check Steve's post in the Alpharooms thread from Travel Republic it really does seem to single that out.
Is couples also including same sex couples? I don't mind fakin it to get to TTR. Also, I imagine singles could connect via CCC and travel together as a "couple" I mean how much time is really spent in the room? Or maybe a connection from CCC mans lots of time in a room. -Shawna
Very true, but if guys all register by themselves rather than in a group, how in the would would TTR/Premier control/deal with that? I am afraid it's an all or none issue!
Don't get too worried, I have never met a person from this site who was anything but kind to me in person. I totally get that some couples don't want to see singles, but I am thoroughly convinced that we singles are good as a rule and only bad as the exception to it. That's one way to go about it, but I can't help but think that the vibe of the resort would change and become more laid back if they didn't allow singles. As someone who's gone for years and also has a membership I'd take it as a bit of a slap in the face if all of a sudden I couldn't come on my own (often it's hard to find someone you know who can travel with you on your schedule). And that part I can get over, I can always go somewhere else, use my weeks via RCI and go elsewhere since I am already a member. If they do decide to change I'd be more miffed about how (assuming the worst in my case) the news is coming out. One would have to assume that they'd have to give some sort of notice on the rule change?
Donald - that was the change over to Desire. When we went to Cabos rates were about $135 a night through Expedia. Temptation does not equal Desire. Changing to 2-people per room would help as its really cheap to add a 3rd person. The increased demand and sell outs due to the better economy is certainly driving this business decision as well as the many many complaints. I'm sure the staff at the resort don't have a lot of kind things to say about the packs of young singles - lack of tips, disrespect, messy, rude and drunken obnoxious behavior. Amount (cost) of booze consumed would probably decrease too.
I agree with everything you wrote, and I hope when it all shakes out they find a way to please the majority (which seems to be keep singles, eliminate large groups of singles). But if worse comes to worse there could be ways around it. I would be sad and disappointed if I could no longer go to TTR and I will make that known in my comment card after my June stay. -Shawna
