I guess the major issue with us is I am a preachers kid living in the buckle of the Bible Belt here in Tennessee. My brother went there last year on his honeymoon and got a ton of grief! My best friend sent me 8 text messages today begging me to change my mind and at this point, I am just telling everyone who already knows where we are going that they need to mind their own business and trust us to be responsible adults who know (and fully welcome) what we are getting ourselves into.....ONE HELL OF A PARTY!!! And for anyone else who asks, we are going to tell them we are going back to the last Cancun resort we visited. In tired of the judgment! I do, however, wish that they would change the name!!!
My wife is so embarrassed that she refused to tell her friend in an email where we are going. I think she will have an amazing time. She is mainly worried about cameras and the connected world we live in. She is very apprehensive about pictures showing up unexpectedly.
Last year was our first trip and we just told everyone we were going to Cancun and a few asked where we were staying and we just said another resort like Live Aqua. Then, after we got back from an AWESOME trip we couldn't help but run our mouths to friends and a few family about where we really went and now we have two other couples joining us this year and three others that are so jealous we are going again.
We had some members of the late June crew that were the same way about photos. They just voiced their concern to the other CCC members and we all kept an eye out for photogs. We also made a vow that photos were for personal use and not fb or social media. It seemed to work...so far. Most people are respectful and ask first, but there is always a risk.
when it was BBG... When it was BBG we just told everyone where we were going. Now, I make sure my Verizon plan includes Mexico and I lie about the resort. Family and vanilla friends can't handle the truth so no need to burden them. :bandit:
My explanation is "A lot of "R" rated fun." There is nothing there that people wouldn't see in a "R" rated movie. Now that may not be the entire truth, but I find it helps with the raised eyebrows.
My wife is a teacher and is very concerned about going to TTR. All teachers in Ga sign a "professional standards" agreement. Means that your county can fire you with "just cause" if you do anything thats looks "unprofessional". "Unprofessional" can mean being photographed with a beer in you hand. We never get our pixs taken anywhere (even at a bar in Atlanta). Georgia isn't Republican or Democrat, its Southern Baptist. The reason Southen Baptist don't like for people to have sex standing up is that folks might think that you are dancing!!!! LOL We just tell every one "Cancun". If they ask futher ,Just tell them Golden Parnassus. Look at the bright side, if your kids get "uppity" just tell them "if you don't behave, I am going to show you pictures from our last vacation" We NEVER went to Hedo, but to Breezes instead.
First trip in a week. We are worried as well. We live in a small enough town and with friends that would not approve if they knew. Going with our friends - one is a PK (preachers kid) as well. Most don't push, but for those that do we say RIU palace. We figure they will stop asking and caring soon.
