We went to walmart last year and plan togo again next week. We took the bus both ways last year but think it would be less of a hassle taking a taxi back. How much should a taxi to TTR cost?

    TIA

As mentioned above, and just to confirm:

    - Walmart don't accept $100 USD bills.
    - They do offer a very good rate of USD to Pesos - the best rate you will find in Cancun.
    - Any change will be in Pesos.
    - 90% rule is correct. (see below)

If paying in USD then the price must be no more than 90% of the notes you offer. So if your purchase comes to $52.53 then offering 3 twenties wont be accepted, a fifty and a five will be fine.

We always take a trip the first or second day. We get Red Bull and booze for the room. Super easy and a fun little trip.

The typical "Ugly American"... Where in the USA do we accept pesos as payment, or any other currency for that matter! What a dumbass!!

I am also interested in finding out how much the taxi should be back to TTR. We are thinking about doing the bus to Walmart and then taxi back. Our debate is either to do that or pay the $30 for USA Transfers.

They will charge as much as they can get away with.

I would not pay any more than 80 pesos, $6 USD. If you can get 100 Pesos, $8 USD then maybe go for it, any more than that play hard to get, walk away and ask another taxi.

If the driver is nice then give him a $10 for being honest when you arrive.
