Congrats Steve! V and Steve: How long are these PR´s valid for? Ive heard "4 years" and now "up to 10 years". The latter from an INM working in DF.
As far as I know Rawkus, it's like it says ""Permanent". Certainly there is no expiry date marked on the card like there was on my old FM2/3, maybe the photo needs updating once in a while but there's no advice on that. Incidentally the valid from date i.e. the date it was approved was Jan 3rd. I applied on Nov 16th I think it was, so about 6 weeks. The rest of the time since then has been a few weeks for me to submit photos and fingerprints (although I wasn't asked to submit until Feb sometime) and then waiting for the card to be printed and delivered back.
Thanks Steve. That sounds like the most logical thing: "Forever" kind of. Do you(or V) happen to know about the right to work? If its "included" or if us scary foreigners still have to notify INM?
Congrats! Heartfelt congrats! I met with Mauricio last week and he wants to retire me (I want to sell the income generating property and quit working at that) and get me in as a rentista under my pension incomes. Then, as a permanent resident, he reasons, I could continue to resume renting my apartments until I sell them and move to another place here. I'm having security issues with my banks printing my statements here, so he is now armed with 1099s until I resolve that. Wish me luck! I really do want to retire and do some work with my Russian skills.
davisod: Thanks buddy Ps. That expression was something I heard when I moved to Australia. When I asked the Immigration dude in Melbourne about a part on my working visa, he said "doesnt matter mate, your still a scary foreigner..."
To those of you who have already applied for your temporary or permanent residency visas, what proof of financial resources did they ask you for? I've heard about this letter stating that your financial situation hasn't changed from last year, but they told my wife that she would need to show 3 months of bank statements showing deposits of over 25 or 31k.
Tristan, this is issue three that I mentioned on another thread. http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/living-cancun-riviera-maya/26355-perm-resid-issues-cancun-inm.html For anyone who is concerned about this, and perhaps you're not, my advice is the same, get professional help: it would be foolish to let this be decided by some low level clerk.
I know all that. What I want to know is what people who have applied this year have actually been asked for. I don't have any problem qualifying. I've got 5 years of FM3 and five years of FM2. I've got the money and the income. In fact, I'll be going for citizenship this summer. I just want to know what people who have applied recently have been asked to show in terms of financial solvency.
